Op-Ed: General Chat And General Discussion Forums Are Still Fun In 2023

My topic is about why general chat and general discussion forums are still fun in 2023. There are so many different genre of forums out there, but the one genre that always stuck out to me the most are general chat/general discussion forums.

My first reason why they are still fun is that you can make any forum or subforum you wish. You do not need to create a separate forum for each genre or niche like gaming or anime. My second reasoning is that I have made connections with people a lot easier than on forums about anime, gaming, or even tech. While a lot of people find them to be a dime a dozen, I've found much more success from a user's point of view with making friends or even acquaintances. I've found outside of that even staff seem to be more chill and relaxed than some other genres and niches out there.

I have managed to reconnect with a recent forum which was shut down for years, and even rebranded it's name to Off Topix. It had been previously named Wober years ago. I so far feel like so many of the members there have shown me these kind of forums are still alive and kicking despite social media being the king. I'd never have met some good people online if it wasn't for forums in general.

This concludes my op-ed on why general chat and general discussion forums are still fun in the year 2023. What are your thoughts and opinions? Lemme know!

This is an interesting blog. I also love to make friends this way and it’s the way I’ve met some really awesome people virtually.
