Has anyone used the pi-hole? I first hear of it by watching LTT and found it really interesting. It's a network wide ad blocker by intercepting DNS requests and checks them against a known list of ad domains and null routes them if there is a match, so you don't see any ads. It's meant to be installed on a Raspberry Pi, but I don't have one and instead spun up an Ubuntu LTS VM and installed it there. From there, I setup my DNS on my Unifi security gateway to point to the Pi-hole instead of the uplink DNS server.

So far, out of 10,505 DNS queries, it's blocked 553 and it's only been running for less than a day.

It blocks all sorts of requests, including Microsoft updates (which I need to whitelist) and Google analytics. Below are the requests that are being null routed when loading FP.

Do you use the Pi-hole currently and if so, what do you think of it? If not, would you? It's super easy to setup.
