Why does any dictatorship fall? Because the amount that the leaders are able to pay their key backers (mostly, the military), in form of funds, lifestyle, and security, was less than either the amount that another party was willing to pay them (not true in this case, OR the amount they would need to be paid to convince them to suppress the people’s will.

Yeah, everything is about "buying off people" - capitalist system or otherwise.

Open source isn't really the same thing. It is actually all about collaboration.

If you use forums as an example, instead of having 80 administrators build their own forum systems for their own sites, they will instead pool their efforts to eliminate an unnecessary waste of resources.

That's one reason that many big companies like Microsoft and Google engage in it.
It is also a good thing for people to put on their resumes, think of it as a sort of internship or apprenticeship where you learn new skills.

Communism on the other-hand is basically a dictatorship in disguise.
The whole goal of the game is to make everyone as miserable as possible, while giving the leaders many benefits. All this talk about equality and what-not is just lip service.

Think of a different thing. Charities.

People offer up a portion of their money to make other people's lives better.

They are not obligated to do this in the slightest and purely do it out of the goodness of their hearts. Of course, there are many problems and inefficiencies with charities, which I won't go into here, but that is basically the goal there.

I think Communist societies provide basic needs - like socialism does for Americans. But I mean, basic needs. It's not a very good lifestyle (government housing, welfare, SSI etc.).
You are given the basic things regardless what. For more - you work.
From what a Polish-American told me, someone who lived in Poland - you have to work - or you get sent to prison. It's kind of like the military.

That's communism. In socialism they don't have strict laws. In china, you are asked to have 1 child and I remember reading news a woman with 3rd child was forced to abort. Not just that there is a lot of corruption and dictatorship breeds in communism. Rich still remain rich and poor remain poor even in communism.

In China you can have 1 child without paying specific taxes. If you have more than 1 you are required to pay specific taxes. That is because the number of population/population growth.

Human life has no value in China - unless in accordance with the state. That's the whole scene with big brother governments.

It doesn't really provide for basic needs either. That's why so many tens of millions starved to death.

Communism has killed more people than both of the world wars.
