Do accounts get deleted/deactivated if they are not used for a long time?
Nope, I don't think so.
Not all forums seem to do it but, what if that inactive account actually gets used again? It doesn't happen that often but still.
I was just thinking if your inactive for a year your account should be wiped
I wouldn't have that idea, Not if it was an retired admin or an account with 15,000 posts
Back in my admin days here, we only sent emails. That's about it. No need to wipe an account just because they haven't signed in.
I personally will stop going to a forum for a long time then go back. I've been away from forums for years before.
Lol glad i came back then
We do nothing to the account. Not a whole lot of people like having to create a whole new account if they don't have to.
Thats fair enough I just know accounts are made on here and never used.
I’ve never really felt that it’s necessary to delete inactive accounts, given that there’s always that small possibility that a member from forever ago may return. The only accounts we would ever delete would be the typical spam accounts that have zero posts, and that hasn’t been done in a long time.
Personally, If a forum deleted my account because I was inactive and I did come back to find that account deleted, I wouldn't make a new one. Generally, forums I've been a part of don't do that. I've been a member here for years and years. I leave, I come back, life just gets in the way for me a lot. I'm glad I don't have to worry about that here.
