Do you care about Cross+Backward compatibility?

I truly hope the next generation of gaming consoles offer cross-compatibility so all gamers can unite and play online, regardless of their console manufacturer. Also, backward compatibility is just as if not more important to me since I have over a TB of PS4 games saved to my external drive...
