So I have a few sits hosted with 000webhost.

I logged in and seen my sites were suspended, and account inactive.

Upon submiting a suport ticket to 000webhost explaining my problem, this was the reply.

"Your website(s) Violate the terms of service." now, I know Exactly what my sits contain, and have read the tos My websites DO NOT violate this agrement.

To get my files back I have to 'upgrade' to premium, and cannot get my money back in case i cancel this 'upgrade' so their copying host1free now?.

Pick free hosting providers with care Denis, that's the only advice I can give you... 😉

If you really need those files, you may have to upgrade...

I hated 000Webhost with a passion. I wanted a sort of Website (kind of like FP has) to go with an old general discussion forum, and I hated everything I saw about this host. It took forever to get an activation email, which meant it took forever to get the Cpanel details so I could set to work on the Website in question. This host gets about as much of a thumbs down from me as ForuMotion does. They do not deserve good criticism at all... neither one of these hosts.

This is why you should avoid free hosts whenever possible, and avoid with your life any well known free ones like 000 hosting or such like.

Use paid hosting, and then at least you can remind them you're paying money and hence are owed decent service.

I use paid hosting on my forums, but i do you 000webhost for a tattoo website i created for a friends tattoo studio. I found 000webhost a pain the backside because they would suspend my account because it was inactive. To resolve this i now log in once per week into my control panel.

I received control panel details, activation emails instantly, i also find the speed of the website to be good and have never suffered downtime. Although i would always recommend paid hosting i have to say i have never had a problem that wasn't a result of my own doing.

Not ALL free hosts are awful. One of my personal favorites for forum hosting is ProphpBB. I can't remember how long ago this was, but some time ago they began offering premium packages as well, which deems them both as a free and advanced hosting. When I still had Chatting Time, my tech admin at the time said that should something happen to his host, he would still provide for us financially should a host closure of his site be unavoidable. Since that time I always kept ProphpBB in the back of my mind. As I understand it, with their premium hosting, you can host any software you'd like, although they do point out that if you have a software other than phpBB, they could be unable to help as that initially is a phpBB hosted forum. So really, when one does their homework properly, there are a lot of great free hosts out there.

I was with 000 for a while, my site was always down and lagged like a beast. Best thing I done was pay for hosting.

@the original post.

000's logic makes NO SENSE to me. "YOUR WEBSITE VIOLATES OUR TERMS OF SERVICE! HOW ABOUT UPGRADING?"
Now I'm not saying you've violated your terms, but I'm going by their logic here, don't think I'm accusing you!
So, you violated their terms but they'll let you upgrade and open your site back up ? What then, do they suspend that? Ask them what you did to be violating terms and how the heck upgrading would somehow "bypass" those terms.

My experience with them was nothing short of pathetic. Definitely not a host I'd recommend to anybody else. There are better hosts out there.

I agree, Aly. In fact, when I read the first post I knew something fishy was going on. I mean, who suspends or bans a customer/client but then goes ahead and let's them upgrade their hosting package? Sounds like a load of BS to me and all the more reason to break away from them as soon as possible. You don't suspend/ban your client but yet tell them they may upgrade a plan. Once your suspended or banned, that's the end of it. No doovers no nothing.

This hasn't happened to me yet, so I am not entirely sure. I hope it doesn't happen.

Still no reply from 000webhost, they know im right but wont admit it.

Im using x10hosting now, its great. 🙂
