Not really.

People don't pay for the copy of PhotoShop, they pay for rights to use it, in the EULA.

It's not that simple though.

You can't argue there is a monopoly with other options like GIMP.

But keep in mind that many students are forced to use PS, and pay for it themselves. I'm referring to college students majoring in Graphic Design where, even though they can use GIMP to do the same thing, sometimes... the class doesn't let them.

So when you figure many colleges are shoving PS down there students throats and how expensive college can be already..... yeah

And if software is worth the money, and there isn't a free option that is just as good, I'll pay for it.

I won't pay for three licenses just so I can put said software on three different machines, that's ridiculous.

Here in the UK you can get it for £153 if you are a student and go on the RM website... and that's the absolute cheapest you can get it.

Heavily overpriced.

You can get awesome deals on eBay. I got a legal, full retail copy of CS3 a while back for under $200. I have never pirated anything, and never will.

As far as my opinion goes, it's software that has had thousands of hours put into it to make it the best it can be. I don't pirate software just to say thanks to the developers for making it. However, I do agree that students should get PS for free, and not have to pay for it. :/

Agreed. $200 is alot of money. 😛 I paid £150 for mine. :l

I have a pirated version of Photoshop. There is the expensive version and the overly abundant free version ( also known as the pirated/cracked version ). It's a no brainier to me.

I don't really think Adobe really cares, if they did many more security measures would be in place to prevent illegal downloading. 😕

Not true at all, if they didn't care they wouldn't put a license key on the software, and they'd just give it out for free, considering more then half of the people who use it, obtained it through illegal means.

Adobe Photoshop is free. There is a 30 day tiral. 😛 I am using the 30 day tiral! 😀 I am going to get gimp once its overwith.
