A forum for people living with depression

Re: Life Without Limits - Learn to live with depression

Life without Limits

The aim of the forum is to support you in your everyday life, we are not professionals (and clearly say so) but we do, between us, have a lot of knowledge of coping techniques.

We aim to share experiences, websites and general support networks with you to help you live with mental illness and realise that you can have a wonderful life, whether you suffer from it yourself or know of someone who does.

What you can do

Post lots ~ This makes the forum run smoother, gives us lots to talk about, supports others and may even help yourself.

Talk ~ Get your problems out in the open, seek support and advice from a professional and try to beat your illness!

Listen ~ Any form of depression can lead to being stuck in a rut, physically and mentally being stuck in a negative catch 22 often prevents you from being open to new ideas from loved ones and professionals.
Always remember that a conversation is a two way thing.

Be part of the forum ~ Please don't ever feel alone, even if you feel you are whinging, sometimes just letting it out helps immensely.

Tell others ~ Please tell others about the forum, lets get lots of members and share life, whether they suffer themselves or know of someone who does.

Share ~ Share your stories, hints and tips, they may help others with ways of dealing with their problems, what works for you may help others.

Have fun ~ The main aim is to have fun, life is too short, even if you simply stay in 'General chat'...you will be helping.

So, about the forum:

I started the forum last year with Mike, Anne and Kate. I was suffering hugely with depression at the time and had been signed off from work for a long time.

We had the idea to start a retreat for people who were also suffering, not only with depression but with other mental illnesses and try and teach them and others that we are still normal people. We also recognised - quite early on - that their loved ones also needed support and to have their questions answered.

Over time, people have come and gone and the forum is still up and running - albeit quietly at the moment, I now have Mymble, Charlie, Mike and Irene there to help me and some wonderful members who make the forum a fun place to be.

If you are suffering yourself, or want advice about a loved one or friend who you think is showing signs of being depressed...or maybe you just fancy signing up to a fun relaxed forum where we support each other regardless of gender, race, political stance or religious views then come along and say hi!

We are non judgemental, we are not professionals but we can give you some advice, some professional websites, a steer in the right direction and a hand to hold as you travel on your journey to getting yourself well again.

NEW SKIN!!

As you can see we now have a new skin on the forum...I hope you like it!

If you don't...or you'd rather have the old one don't worry, just follow these simple instructions:

1) Go to User control panel (located under the main banner)

2) Click on board preferences.

3) Change the 'My board style' drop down box to Lifewithoutlimits.myfreeforum.org2

4) Click 'submit'.

Then when you click on 'Board index' you will see it has changed back to the original skin.

Re: Life Without Limits - Learn to live with depression

The forum is proving to be a meeting place for people who want to talk about their feelings. It doesn't really matter if you have been diagnosed as having depression, a mental illness or simply that you're feeling down for the day, we all get like that and it's worth getting together and swapping ideas or stories.

Everyone is welcome on the forum, we make no judgement about you and your problems and we aim to help and support you in whatever choices you make in your life.

I have asperger's and depression and already post on an autism board (some.), so I may just decide to do a bit of posting on a depression board. Sure, it's not a magic pill cure, but at the very least, it's an opportunity to talk to people in the same boat and get to know them, which doesn't hurt (I imagine it makes you feel less alone and who doesn't want that?).

Absolutely ~cheesey_grin~ We hope that if you join us you will feel very welcome ~smile~
