I don't see the point in advertising then leaving because you will not get any members really if you do this. I try my best to stay active on any advertising site I join & I don't remember advertising and leaving on 1 promotion site.
Also I think too many forums which have nothing to do with advertising have advertising sections, eg Merlin's forum... animal crossing has nothing to do with advertising and decent active members will come to a forum like that to discuss AC, not to advertise.
If its allowed by the forums rules then its not bad. If the site has an advertising section with a post requirement then I'd do that at the minimum then post my ad and if topics interest me then I post in them other than that its a free for all if its allowed within the site's rules 😛.
