He gave me a "three-strike" system

As long as you don't suck as and admin. But if you make three mistakes, I'm out of here.
Wait a sec.... he gave you a three-strike system?
So if you make 3 mistakes he'll leave?.... that's some seriously messed up place you got there.

I'm prone to making mistakes and I made him an admin
You just pointed out one of those mistakes you're prone to making.

If I go with your tips, and try to improve and tell them I'm the owner and creator of the board and I'm the one who makes change, they are just going to leave and be like "**** you" and bam.I would lose my other two active members, it would just be me who would the only active member, my forum would fail.. end of story.
You really don't have a clue do you. Who said you should be telling them whose the owner and creator of this board and what you say goes..... who said you should decome a dictatorship on your forum? We certainly did not.

Yes you are the creator of your forum and you should be open to ALL suggestions from your staff, members, and anyone else that takes their time to give you advice. You should then take the time to discuss it and consider it. not rush in to it.

Think for yourself and then take on board what others say. Your trouble was that you made changes and your "admin" changed it back.... you don't see a problem there?

I told him this in a PM

Those guys at forumpromotion need to learn, a starter forum can have two admins, now can it?

He said this:
It certainly can, but that doesn't mean they're inexperienced.
Wow are you serious? you have an almighty cheek coming here.
We provide you with a lot of advice from a lot of experience and you say WE need to learn.
Yes of course a starter forum can have 2 admins, hey a forum with 10 members can have 10 admins if you like.... but guess what..... your problems with someone changing back the changes you've made came from an admin that you hardly knew.... this amongst other things is why we all recommend for a forum your size that you only have 1 admin, i.e. yourself.

and if I make changes to the forum(like adding those different gaming discussion boards.), he's just going to be pissed off..
Ah finally we get to the bottom of who really is running your board.... it's the other admin.
Why don't you, instead of making changes, create a dicussion topic for ALL your members to see what they think of the idea of different gaming dicsussion boards... because hey who are you making this forum for? yourself? Your other admin? Or your members? Give the members an opportunity to give input in to what your forum looks like, not just some stuck up admin you hardly know.

You once asked me what would it take for me to join your site....... you still wondering the answer to that question? :shake:

Selling yourself as an admin?
I am sure Clarkey means you need to come clean towards new members and not talk shit behind our backs. Me & Clarkey have kindly given you advice that every users take up and you have an excuse. Me and Clarkey don't have to give you the advice. Your obviously one to talk if we need to learn, I have been foruming for 3 - 4 years now, and I picked up on a lot and one of them is not to be overstaffed. Why have a community that isn't growing, have 4 staff members or more, only 2 is needed a moderator and admin(yourself). Reason why I said that your forum isn't growing is, you don't take our advice.
Users way back pages said you should switch from ForuMotion, it is a shit software, your behaviour and re-actions towards that, ''No, I am fine with this, right!'', then we offered you tips with layout, ''My layout is perfectly fine!!'', yes that one. Why have a forum about gaming, you would be perfect on the debating side of forums, wait make that flaming. I would love to hear your reply to this reply.
Your forums pretty mucked, the theme is ugly, the banner I can hardly read, you are way overstaffed, and don't have potential, you flame to much, and you expect your forujm to grow overnight, just don't forum, pick up on things from a year on and you will be a successful webmaster, simplezzzz.

Well actually what's a good free PHPBB host?

I am going to consider choosing a better free forum host.

Whether if it has PHPBB2 or PHPBB 3, me and my members like PHPBB the most.

No, there are not very many ''good free PhpBB'' hosts about, go with Zetaboards, easy to use posting/thread making system, can add over 300 modifications, over 100 themes, plus the staff at the resource boards are helpful. If your wanting something better than that which is free is going for the actual phpBB3, but you'd fail on that 'cuz theme and modification system is hard for a newb like myself. Try MyBB, you won't be disappointed.
Read some reviews, also if your willing to splash the bucks, get a domain and actually re-think the forum out before opening.

phpBB3 is free, all you need to do is download, your probably best asking us which is the best free-remotely hosted phpBB forum, well.
http://phpbb-host.com/
http://www.phpbbweb.com/
http://www.prophpbb.com/ (recommended)
But I don't see why no trying phpBB3 out, not unless you flip at the keyboard because your patience is running or don't want to cos you would prefer someone else to do, but I wouldn't recommend turning to any of the links above, the recommended at the third one means that, that is most likely the best out of them all.

How much customazation does prophpbb have?

Do they allow you to install mods?
Do they have a chatbox feature?

There really isn't a such thing as a "good free forum host". If you cannot afford $3 a month then find a free host and then install phpbb 3.0.7 on it.

Luigi, based on the content of this thread, I'm going to suggest MyBB to you. Before you go ahead and say "NO I WANT PHPBB", just keep reading.

MyBB is much simpler, faster, and MUCH easier to use as an admin. It comes with a powerful admin panel as well as a very simple yet effective plugin system. You'll virtually never come across error when using MyBB, however when using phpBB they are commonplace.

Unless you have an advanced understanding of php and html, phpBB2/3 will be a nightmare for you. It took me less than 3 days to make the decision to switch from phpBB3 to MyBB and I have not looked back since.

There's nothing that the phpBB system has that MyBB doesn't. You can have your dark templates, chat and shoutboxes, and avatar galleries.

To install all the above features, will take a combined 5 minutes even with a newb administrator.

Consider this a warning that unless you have a very good understanding of what you are doing (which I'm assuming based on this thread that you do not) then do not go with phpBB, choose MyBB.

Hopefully your message wil get around to him BO, and just to add to that. Themes are simple to install just have to install the .xml file and you have it, plus takes a minute to change theme so you can have a variety. PhpBB is for the higher advanced people, like people high up, and MyBB is just as professional as phpBB is but simplier. Plus a lot more users could provide you with better support towards myBB, as support for phpBB support has always been confusing for me.
