Anyone prefer used cars?

I always buy used. The newest car I ever bought was only 18 months old and it was the one that gave me the most problems. Sometimes the old bangers give less trouble because they are very basic and there is less to go wrong. New cars can be very complicated. My partner always used to fix his own cars but he finds it difficult with today's cars because of the electrics.

I suppose if you need a car to travel a lot it's best to buy new but for me a used car is a better option because I don't do many miles. These days I don't go far from home so it's not a disaster if I break down. I do have breakdown cover and a great mobile mechanic.

My latest car I purchased totally new. The experience has been wonderful so far. The peace of mind has been great. I probably won't ever buy new again though just because of how much the value drops.

I don't buy cars brand new because they're a money pit, but I don't buy super second hand cars. Maybe an owner or two.
