I'm currently trying Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal on my older computer. Ubuntu 11.04 seems stable, fast, and easy to use for my needs which usually just involve browsing the web, editing php, html, and text files, word processing, uploading files to my websites with Filezilla, and using Gimp Image editor.
Ubuntu starts up faster, run better, is more stable and shutdowns faster on the same computer I run/dual-boot Windows 7 Home Premium 32Bit with only 1GB of RAM, a Intel 1.8 GHz CPU, onboard Intel video, onboard sound, 320 GB SATA hard drive.
Plus, with all my 3rd-party programs like Kompozer, Filezilla, VLC, recordmydesktop, xVidCap, GIMP, Chrome, Opera, Audacity, TrueCrypt, etc and Ubuntu OS, I'm only using 6.4 GB of storage space on my hard drive.
I like the new left sidebar/dock introduced in Ubuntu 11.04 to put shortcuts/launchers of programs which I use a lot on the left side of the desktop.
The left sidebar also automatically hides when you open a program like Firefox in full screen mode. If you want it to appear again, you just move the cursor to the left edge of your screen.
It is also cool how I can use the built-in search engine to search for pre-installed programs instead of the menu system in previous version of Ubuntu like 10.10.
The Ubuntu Software Center program is easy to use for installing and removing programs on Ubuntu 11.04.
It is also nice Ubuntu 11.04 uses screen space better then previous version of Ubuntu like 10.04 since there is no longer a tool bar at the bottom of the desktop. There is just one tool bar on the top.
