At what age did you finally take an interest in investing?

I began investing at an early age. I like the way that I was able to build my business via the investments that I did.

I started seriously investing when I first started college, so I’d say 18 or 19. I had a professor my freshman year that really emphasized personal finance.

I never had money to invest until I reached 60 when Covid did me a favour insofar as it decimated my pension fund which caused me to panic, withdraw what was left and start investing rather successfully in the stock market. That in turn allowed me to increase my passion for buying, restoring and reselling vintage guitars.

That's good that you got in at the perfect timing. The stock market has been pretty rough this past year or so.

Vintage guitars!! You rock. 😀

Yeah, a lot of people lost money during the shut downs and I don't even know if we've gained ours back yet. My husband has about 10 more years until retirement, and I've been contemplating whether I should return to work when he retires. I mean, he has no hobbies, so what's he going to do all day? Let him clean house and maybe I can go get the money? LOL

The timing really was perfect but that was down to luck. I put most of it into tech shares mid 2020 which in a couple of cases gave me a return of around 1000% at the point of selling.

I don't know if I ever took an interest in investing; it was something that my parents simply educated me and my siblings in over time. When I started my first real job, I wasn't making that much money, but I still made it a point to open my IRA and contribute to the company's 401k.

One of the enduring lessons of personal investing is that it's not about timing the stock market, it's about time in the stock market. Starting young and contributing a little bit every month is a slow but sure way to retirement.

It's so good your professor emphasized personal finance. Most of my econ / finance professors taught academic economics and corporate finance, but no real world finance.

I was 24 years old when I started investing. I wish I had known about investments a little earlier at least before the market crash that happened during Covid 19. People who invested during that market crash have made so much profit.

I wish I had started when I was in my teens but I did not start until I was in my late twenties.

I have not even thought about starting and no idea what
