Best free hosting for gaming forum ?

Hey guys i am starting new gaming forum but i don't know which hosting service (zeta,runbb,probe etc) is best for my needs can u help me ?

I would go for MyBB (it's the most popular one out there, from my experience)

you can customize it easily to suit your tastes. It's sorta like vBulletin, which appeals to many audiences.

Depending on what you would like as a RP forum, depends on what would be a good choice for a free forum host.

Generally, I would suggest http://proboards.com partly because of a version update they have, that allows you to modify the coding to their free hosted forums directly, and other nice things.

Jcink Forum Hosting (which uses IPB) or IcyBoards (which uses MyBB). Those are the two you're probably going to want to look at.

Skip Zetaboards and InvisionFree (since Jcink offers everything 98% of what Zetaboards Premium does except Jcink offers it for free. The other 2% is covered with Jcink Premium and also gives you extra features on top of it above and beyond what ZB premium gives. And Jcink offers everything InvisionFree does and then some.)

Because the board was started on InvisionFree in 2008, and then we upgraded it to ZetaBoards. Myself and the other admin also didn't even know Jcink or Icyboards even existed at the time, if they even did, but even then we wouldn't have probably considered it. A forum to me isn't defined purely by the software it is hosted on nor the features of that software. Just because other hosts might offer more things doesn't mean you can get more success from them. Success comes from hard work before anything else.

I'm satisfied with what ZetaBoards has to offer and wouldn't probably consider changing hosts even if the option was available. It suits my needs and what I want my forum to be. The aspect of Jcink having free features that ZetaBoards has as Premium ones also means nothing to me because I get ZetaBoards Premium for free due to being part of the ZetaBoards Support Team, but even before I was a part of that team I could live without the features that Premium offers.

I would not recommend InvisionFree to anyone. It's old software that is outdated compared to ZetaBoards, and rarely receives bug fixes and/or updates.

Why won't you rather host your forum on a free web hosting company.
It will give you full control on your work and no need to display others' ads unless you want to...

Check out instafree.com those guys are great. My forum has never suffered single black out and it's been 1 month. They are really good. Not just for forum, but for hosting as a whole.
