If I submit information to the college indicating I'd like to live on campus (ex. dorm), can I get financial aid to help cover my living expenses while attending college?

So you know my demographics, I live in the state of New York, USA.

Thanks,
~ Andy

I guess that depends on how much the school you'll be attending costs. I don't think that they give you financial assistance specifically for living costs, but you may have enough left over to pay for them if your school isn't too expensive. 🙂

Of course!! It depends mostly on how much you make or how much your parents make if you are still living at home.

Like Ryan said, if you live with your parents, how much they make and where they live are the two main factors.

Regardless, you can look into work study programs to cover the costs of tuition.

Depends on your school, Government and various other things. I know you can get aid in Victoria (Australia), but I'm not sure about elsewhere.

I know this is getting stale but as far as Canada goes, yes your student loans here can include living accommodation's irregardless of whether it's on campus or not. 🙂

Apply for TAP as well. I did not get much from them, but it helps.

But to answer your question, you can use it for on campus living, but you do not get any additional aid. Also worth noting, after the age of 21 (I believe) you can apply for federal financial aid as an independent, and as you go along further in college, the maximum amount of subsidized/unsubsidized loans increases (look under Annual and Aggregate Loan Limits on http://studentaid.ed.gov/PORTALSWebApp/ ... tloans.jsp ).
