Can you eat a whole lemon?

I actually tried buying a few lemons and attempted this. My stomach and taste buds can handle it, but I stopped halfway for the sake of my teeth. I think it's too acidic to be good for them, mine feel weird after eating about half a lemon. I seem to have confused a lemon with their smaller cousin of sorts: lime.
