Carnt Left Forum Of The Ground?!?

Hey, I have something on my mind for a while…

I have been running my forum for 1 year and so far I have gotten 100 (inactive come & go) users and only 3 of them are almost active
Ive made 2000 posts is this normal for a Nintendo Forum? I have worked hard on the forum and it seems all most impossible to even get the forum lifted of the ground

I have also heard that social networking such as facebook, twiiter & Kondoot are taking over forums and forums are dieing
How can I make my forum a more sociable place or can get it to be active (Ive expected more for 1 year)

Whats inactive to you could seem incredibly active to a newer/less-experienced webmaster.

As long as you don't compare yourself to others, you and your site will do just fine.

I don't really believe that the social network world is taking over. Facebook is more for friends, not people you meet on the internet.

This is one mistake I see being made all the time. Too many people compare sites with more active sites, and they wonder why they aren't active. Sure, I used to be this way myself. But I'm grateful for those who are sticking around and posting, and my forum's a year old as well. It's a lot less stress if you don't always compare your site with more active forums/forums that have been around longer.

They have no obligation to stay on your forum. They may get bored, find something more interesting, forget or whatever reason.

You cannot. We have no obligation to stay on your forum; we don't even have to provide a reason. You can interest people with activity, good discussion and effective webmastering, but you cannot force people to post or even sign up.

We are currently down for a few upgrades but when we reopen I will Add more unique content
But one year is a while so I won't give up yet

We currently don't have much traffic or members but I'm trying to get a portal,custom theme and install mods so I thought to leave it down will allow us to do the updates at a normal paste

But if it was an active forum I would leave it open and do the updates (or only a 24 hour downtime)

What they are saying is that if you announce that your forum is down nobody will want to go to it, they will wait till it is up, or go to another forum that already is.

For a Nintendo forum I would say that's not very impressive...only if you compare to other Nintendo sites, which you should do since it's your niche.

You have a forum in a niche where there are literally hundreds of forums just like it.

You're going to have to offer people something they can't get at a slew of other Nintendo forums. You could always try posting relevant content. Nintendo news isn't hard to come by and a lot of people like hearing about Nintendo specific news.

And then he wonders why his sites aren't going anywhere? Who wants to join a forum when they have more downtime than uptime? Really, if you really want to run a forum, cut out the mass emails, stop goofing off and saying you're closing only to have it back up again. This kind of thing is the sort that makes me never want to join a person's forum again, because I'll know that they can't be trusted. Sure, I used to be the same way, but now days it's getting pathetic.n
