I know of several casino gamblers who look young for their age. One is an 89-year old man who is a casino habitue. He says that gambling gives him longevity. The excitement he gets in gambling makes him feel energetic and thus it's what makes him look young. Another is the mother-in-law of a colleague who is 75 but goes to the casino all by herself, still agile with her movement.

I was born and raised in a town where a race track was situated so I know the culture of horse racing. Bettors are usually old men who have nothing to do. And they look old maybe because of the losses they suffer in betting (that was my impression of them). That was the opposite of what I am hearing from casino players. Is there something in the casino that is connected to longevity?

I think the reason why they think that it helps them feel younger, is because of the excitement of possibly winning it big. Gambling itself isn't tied to making someone live longer, but the stress of it, if one consistently looses, could potentially cause someone to age or die, depending on how old they are (Just like with most stress over a long enough period of time, it will change how you look physically if it is negative stress).

Agreed. I'm not really a gambling fan mysel. I'm also only 29 but I think Joshua Farrell hit the nail on the head with this one
