I couldn't get by with that little amount of RAM tbh.

If you honestly think that 4GB is not enough to play a good 95% of PC games out right now, you need to read up on some stuff. Now if you're trying to run a web server, edit videos, etc., that is another story.

Web servers only need about 256MB of ram to get by. For more concurrent sessions you will need more but for like 15 people on a site 256MB is fine.

I'm impressed that it can run those games. I like the theme of showing us how to build cheaper PCs. A lot of people are on tight budgets and sites like this are needed. Great work.

I am talking about running a web server or other type of server (like a gaming server) from your computer. Not as a standalone lol.

Thats pretty dope man, i build alot of pc's my self although im not too experienced when it comes to AMD processor builds. Intel all the way

I'm not an AMD person, but this is a good budget build. Unless you plan on using linux, you should really factor in the operating system cost into the price. I've known people who think that the operating system is just there when you put together a computer, so it might be helpful to note.

I think it's time to upgrade for me. I built my gaming PC 3 years ago, and your budget build has a better graphics card.
Mine is a Radeon HD 6770 1GB. At least my 6 core 3.2GHz processor is still pretty good. :cheer:

Sometimes you can get away with only upgrading the video card, depending on what PSU and motherboard you have.

Yeah, I'd have to upgrade my PSU last I checked. My motherboard will support it. I'm thinking of upgrading to a 2GB 7000 series. So I can play The Division when that comes out. I'm usually playing Counter Strike: GO, which I can play at max resolution (1920 x 1080 for me) on max settings at 60 Frames Per Second (My monitor is 60hz so it wont go above 60FPS I don't think).

Sounds like a good idea. As far as your monitor, yeah I believe if you go over 60 fps you will not be able to see much of a difference in terms of pure fps.

Well, depends. I mean I can see a big difference between 60 and 120fps, as the latter is much smoother. I would say anything over 120fps is over kill though, but the newer standard in gaming now is 120fps.

No I mean on a 60hz monitor going too far above 60fps can cause tearing. Plus the eyes can only see a max of around 70-80 fps anyways (anything above that and only negligible differences can be seen).

Oh, ok. I see now. 😛
Yeah. I use VSYNC for that issue, so it locks my FPS at 60 and prevents the visual tear. 🙂
