Notes:
My blog has become something that I absolutely enjoy updating on the regular basis now. It is something that I really want to create and become an entertaining/useful website for others to visit. I do not wish to write about one specific subject but at the same time I don't want it to be just any other general blog. I want to improve it as much as possible so any constructive criticism is welcomed, seriously, please do not hold back. 😉 Thank you for your help.

First Impressions
[note]========== BEGIN - First Impressions ==========[/note]
When I heard the blog title for the first time, I thought it sounded really pretty and interesting. "Citadel of Thoughts" is definitely not something I hear everyday, and I even had to open a dictionary to check its meaning. I also became interested to see what kind of thoughts are shared at the blog. I enjoyed what I see when I visited the blog. Citadel of Thoughts is a simple Blogger blog that catches the personal feeling quite well. More modifications may be necessary but it is not too urgent. Jumping to the content they are looking pretty good although they are pretty short. But that makes it easy to read in one go and feels more like a personal diary. The variety of content seems pretty good too so there are many things to talk about. Overall, Citadel of Thoughts has a good amount of charm, and that is a good starting point.

From the top, the title of the blog stands out from the rest of the page, despite having nothing special to it. The color combinations are the usual ones but they work well being simple. For uniformity, the 'Send' button may probably better in black or orange color to match the overall color scheme. Then again, I am not too sure about how far you can customize your blog with Blogger. Good choice with adding a navigation bar at the top of the page as sorting method. It looks weird when I click on any category, though. Here is a screenshot for better visualization. Next, what do you think of modifying the title? Since it is the main spotlight of the header. At least with a change of font type and color, it will stand out even more and looks prettier. The descriptions below the title is unusually long for personal blog. While it's not necessarily annoying, I believe it will be better to have it shorter. The line "I am always looking for interesting things to try, do, and write about so if you have any ideas feel free to give me a shout. Thanks!" can be placed above the comments/suggestions box, where it also relates to the box. Last is about the background image. It's a pretty image that helps bring calm atmosphere into the blog. However, I believe if it's an image that compliments the word "citadel" and "thoughts", it will give stronger impression. You can choose a rather dimmed picture so it will not stand out more than the body of the index. For example, a picture of books, library, or a sophisticated reading room may be good for this experiment.

Looking at the archive of the blog, April this year shows a big improvement in terms of your posting activity. You seem to have find your daily target and are able to meet the goal. It shows that you can produce articles in steady pace, day-to-day basis. Numbers wise, April is a good start in improving the blog's statistics. Then again, this is a personal blog so a slump in activity is to be expected. What you have been doing is one good solution to this kind of problem, so keep it up! If you feel more creative and can add more articles per day, feel free to do so, although it is not compulsory. It is always better to be able to write only one entry per day but do it for a long, long time.

[note]========== BEGIN - Originality ==========[/note]
Being a personal blog, content found at Citadel of Thoughts is personal property of the author and therefore making it original and special. It is presented in a good way that is not too long and winding in the process, but still enough to pick visitors' interest to read more. A suggestion I can think of at this point is to actually expand the content of the posts more to make the post more interesting and more informative for visitors. Let's take for example your article about pizza. What do you think if you add a bit more information or fun facts or trivia about pizza? Where it comes from, how it's made, and other fun details you may find as you dig information related to pizza. The article of home remedy for stomachache, for example, can be expanded by talking a bit more about stomachache, what can cause them, and which type of stomachache can be relieved with method you suggested. This kind of content expansion can help to make an article with a decent length (like your ""We always vote for Democrats"" article) but still being fun and informative at the same time.

Site Structure
[note]========== BEGIN - Site Structure ==========[/note]
Citadel of Thoughts' blog structure is very simple, straight to the core. This helps visitors to focus on the content without wondering too far. The index page is very focused on the blog posts that we see a large empty space at the sidebar. I suggest to reduce the number of posts displayed at the index page to shorten this space. From another side, you can also find ideas to fill in the empty space. It can be filled with something fun, for example a regular poll which you can turn into a blog post after certain amount of time, funny images, your reading list, and so on. You can also put more serious content such as news widget or maybe affiliate buttons with other blogs. There is a menu called 'Affiliates' under your useful links, so I think the space can be used to let them gain more exposure from your blog visitors. I also think 'Follow by Email' will be better up higher, at least above 'Sponsor' image since it's only advertising.

Spelling & Professionalism
[note]========== BEGIN - Spelling & Professionalism ==========[/note]
I find little mistakes in terms of spelling and grammar in some places, but they are nothing major. Mainly it is related to usage of punctuations, such as commas and full stops. For example, the way you put "lol" after full stop in the mussels article. There are also concerns about using capital letters; as far as I know connecting words like "for" or "than" are written in normal letters, not capital. But these are not very serious that you need to correct it right away. Being a personal blog, writing style is more open and free from strict professionalism. I personally believe that writing in a tidy manner should be done in every possible chance regardless of type of blog. It helps visitors to understand the flow and meaning of the sentences better.

Final Remarks
Citadel of Thoughts is an interesting blog. I had fun reading some of the posts while doing the review. Being as simple as it is, there are still methods that you can explore to modify the blog to be even more personal and comprehensive while staying simple and straight to the point. Have fun exploring that part; don't be afraid to experiment! Good luck with the blog, Sharon!

I would like to say I looked at your website I thought it is very good. Considering you started your website in, February 11, 2014. You have had your blog for only for over a year and it is doing really well. You should be proud of yourself.

To improve your forum further, I would make the text bigger because as you can see in the picture below the text is very small and is hard to read.

Se5OYHu.jpg

Though, overall you have a great Blog and you should keep the hard work up and the blog will hopefully become really successful one day. Best of luck with it, Sharon.

I think you have a unique and interesting blog. The only thing I personally dislike is the current theme and it's accompanying background. There are a lot of other free themes out there if you search for them. I would also like to see more posts here since your blog is a personal one. Good luck. 😉

I noticed this when I was writing the review, but I thought the smaller font was due to it being a quoted text, since Sharon mentioned that she was going to share her writing. I agree the size can be bigger, though.

Thank you so much Migi for the detailed review. I am taking your suggestions to heart and have started implementing some changes. I've got a few follow up questions would it be alright with you if I contact you via PM?

Thank you XxInfectedxX, I've updated that particular blog post - made the text larger but still made it evident that it's a piece that I've written a while ago.

Thanks Cierra! What's funny is I actually started off with the Just Sharon and I've been purposely adding more to the different categories just to even out the posts in each section. I updated the theme to something even simpler and clean looking but I am still not 100% happy with it. I will have to keep looking. I'm rather apprehensive about installing blog themes from 3rd party resources, any tips on how to successfully install a new blog theme?

You're welcome! I see you've changed the blog, I hope it will work out better for you. Yes, feel free to contact me by PM. We can also discuss it here, but I'll go with whichever method you're most comfortable with.

Oh ok! Actually I think discussing it here is a better idea that way I can keep my thoughts organized and refer back to this thread if need me (instead of having to scroll through a bunch of PMs)!

You had mentioned that expanding the posts more will make my posts more interesting and informative...which I totally agree could be helpful. You had mentioned "We always vote for Democrats" article for clarification do you mean that my posts would be better if they were as detailed as that particular article or did you mean that article needs more expanding as well?

Site Structure
I've temporarily removed the Affiliates link altogether while I try to figure out how to move forward in this area. I like the idea of featuring others' websites, blogs, forums, etc... however, I do not want to over clutter the front page. You mentioned that there is a lot of empty space on the right side - would you recommend I use up the space for links anyway? I'm just worried it may make my blog look too... cluttered. I've minimized the number of posts of the front page by the way and I absolutely agree it looks better with not as many posts featured on the front page.

I feel that the "We always vote for Democrats" article is an interesting comparison. It something simple from your daily life which has contrast to current situation, therefore giving you more points to talk about in the article. I imagine that every article should at least try to follow same approach. If not, you can dedicate posts under that category to have that kind of structure. I realize it's not always possible to do, though. So you can be flexible with it.

It does look shorter now. I will say that you can still use it for affiliates. You can do it by links in bullet points if you want to see it tidy (like in WordPress' "Blogroll", not sure what it's named in Blogger). I think affiliate images can fit too, but it's more potential to look messed up if not aligned properly.

Same happened to your recipe posts. I guess you don't really need to edit older posts too, but you can take note for future posts like this.

Your blog is something I enjoy reading (probably because we share some similar interests). I like the way the blog is set up the way it is now. I just feel like it you are better equipped to find and read articles that interest you. I would recommend keeping that feature for your blog, especially since you have so many great articles.

Thank you! Again I appreciate the quality comments you've left for some of my posts. I've been taking everyone's suggested to heart. I even changed platforms so that I can have more choices as far as customization. It's a work in progress for sure but my blog is shaping up I think. 😉

Could you please elaborate on what you mean by that last part about keeping the feature of being equipped to find and read articles? Sorry I don't know what you meant by that exactly.

I think you should try to find a better theme for your blog. You have some nice images on each blog post, find a theme that can better show those off where the image is larger (not too large, but at least so you can see what it's a picture of).

Also, what is the logo in the top left supposed to represent? Is there significance there? Because I'm missing it if there is.
