Hello all.
this is a response to my previous topic: how do i make a hosting service.
at this point in time i have decided to do it, but i need help. I need reliable people, or support, or even advice on what to do. I am ready to be dedicated, and i am ready to spend money. Comments, advice, offers, are appreciated.

I think he does mean reseller 🙂 If I wasn't already with HG, I would do it. Sorry mate.

I wouldn't start hosting unless you really know what you're doing, there are enough hosts run by people who don't know what they are doing already. Go to someplace like webhostingtalk.com and just read up on the hosting industry and just hosting itself, truth is a real hosting company is normally at around a low 5 figure launch.

Darth, im going to say this in the nicest manner possible.

You can't even run a forum, what makes you think you can run a host?

+1 to that, it's not easy :great:

How you make it?

1. You definitely need a unlimited everything plan

2. Suggest a domain name (TLD)

3. Download a hosting billing system like the Hosting Tool

4. That's it!

You may need to buy cPanel...

guys, you don't have to be so harsh.
i have hosting friends, they're helping me.
also, yes i am 12. I appreciate the advice guys, i am still doing it.

Well good luck then mate :great:

Like i said i tried to say it as nice as possible, but i personally don't think you have what it takes, it's not as easy as Silent says, those are just the basics.

Running a hosting company is a tough job, especially if it takes off, if it gets big, dedicated servers can cost in the $100+ a month to keep running, not to mention the work that is needed to run it smoothly.

Honestly, even adults can't cover the costs of these sort of things, thats why they are going up and down all of the time.

In my opinion, you should focus on school, in a few years then consider it again.

But, it's up to you.

There's absolutely no way of competing against the current Web Hosts. There are just too many established free hosts, and with paid hosts being cheaper than ever really you'd just be wasting your time.

Hosts like 2HostU and Speed Hosting (the latter being owned by a known spammer) lack professionalism and the right acumen required to run a successful business.

Save yourself time, effort, money and embarrassment by not even trying.

Then why don't you ask your "Hosting friends" for help instead of us? If they are your friends and ARE hosters then they should be able to help you alot better than us..

12 is not a good age to start this kind of business.

If you are starting off as a reseller then I suggest using HostGator, they offer very good deals at very cheap prices.

Firstly you need to get a domain reseller account at eNom or ResellerClub, and the minimum pay in for eNom is $100, $200 for ResellerClub.

Secondly, you need a billnig software, I recommend WHMCS, this also has monthly payments, or you can pay it yearly.

After you have set that up, you then go onto creating your website/billing area for clients. You also setup your packages in WHM which will come with your Reseller plan with whichever host you choose.

It costs a lot of money just to get started, and it will be hard work before it becomes easy.

Umm..

Order a reseller hosting account, for example: http://www.heartinternet.co.uk/reseller-hosting/

Buy a domain name like starwarshost.com

Design your site to have it how you like.

Without bucketloads of coding, there is a simple way. Provide free/cheap ad-free hosting and have a contact us form for people to talk about their site and why you should host it, then with your reseller account, create the account and add a subdomain (subdomain.starwarshost.com) to it.

But yes. You're 12. You're not up to creating a host. If it's for friends, just order a VPS and give them ftp access. Or get a cheap reseller.

wha?
i mean like 2hostu.
i think it is a re-seller.
I'm not a reseller. I sell free, p4h, and paid servers, but I bought a VDS. not a reseller

excuse me. I actually am running a successful hosting company, I am professional, I may not match up to those big ones, but I think I'm doing a decent job, I offer add-on most hosts charge fees for.
And who is a spammer? I'm not.

When I first started I was not very good.
But now I have spent a lot of money on my server, add-on, and trying to make it as good looking and professional as I can. has a bit more work to do, but is getting there.

What I did, is start off with a reseller, use "the hosting tool"'

Now I have a VDS server.
Ipanel Billing (used to have WHMCS but their support is really crap)
VBulletin
Good and reliable staff.

I wish you luck, but you know where to contact me.

MHW, I don't like what you said about my host. I spent a lot of time on it.

Ok think of it like this; what will your host add to the industry that isn't already there? Why would someone use your host instead of a more established one? Are you ready to register your host as a company? Can you give 24/7 support to your clients?

Web hosting isn't something you think of doing one day when you're bored. It requires dedication, a host normally looses money each month until around the 6th month, so you should have enough $$ to pay for your servers until then with no profit in mind.

Like I said before there are enough hosts that appear one day and disappear in the night. You're not even 18 so you can't sign a contract with anyone, so you in your name can not legally run a web host.
