Say if you have a cyber stalker or some flamer that follows you from forum to forum. Say you own a forum and they join, post porn and vulgar messages and you ban them.

They join again on a proxy IP only to do the same thing and you ban them again. Say this person followed you from another forum and you modded there and this started only because they were given a warning because they broke the rules there, but took it way to pesonal and is literally crazy and delusional.

But say they go as far to look up your real name, and find out who you're connected to, although you never gave that information, but perhaps they traced your IP to get that some how. I never give out my name, honestly. How do you go about reporting them to the authorities so they don't do that to someone else? and how far is too far?

Isn't cyber stalking against the law?

I'd like to know should I run into this issue again.Its not something I think anyone deserves no matter how bad a person you are or how good. Trolling is something that I am against and really really against cyber stalking and flaming on someone over stupid stuff.

Cyber stalking is a crime and that person can get in big trouble. When this happened to me, I was told to call the local police and provide all the information I could about the person including any IP addresses or names they used. This person would likely get banned from their ISP or any company and would not be able to subscribe to internet services.

And, yes it's a horrible situation to face, especially when you know the other person (former friend) and are now being targeted.

As an admin on a forum, I've faced this situation. Just banning the person actually made me the target. It's not easy being an admin or mod when you get the haterade poured on you for doing your job.

Yes it's illegal. I've never had it happen to me, but have heard horror stories about it.

Its happened to me several times. Its not a fun thing to go through. I just don't know why people are like that. Insane maybe?

Some people have a lot of time and some "needs of humiliation".

We just a playing roles (admin/mod/troll...) in a fake and funny world in a... :roll:

Learn how-to ban subnets/TOR nodes.... and other things, you need increase your tech knowledge in these area if you are admin 😉 )

My other tip: don't post any IRL info in Netz!
