It’s terrifying, but very interesting. Have you seen the Chernobyl series that HBO did? It was amazing.

I loved the HBO mini series. It was pretty accurate with the events. There were a few minor scenes that witnesses claim never happened, but all in all the show captures the disaster perfectly. They started dismantling the plant as early as 2000. It's taken them 23 years so far to do it.

It was absolutely terrifying when the event happened. We really had no idea how it would affect our planet because it was such a bad situation and the area is still radioactive today.

3 Mile Island failure happened here in the US in 1979. It's scary how the governments deny anything bad happening until they can no longer deny it. People suffered a lot of health issues from these nuclear issues.

It's the government for you, sadly.

It did mark the downfall of the Soviet Union after they lied and broke the people's trust by trying to cover it up.
Chernobyl shattered the foundation upon which glasnost could succeed, and therefore contributed to the fall of the Soviet Union by preventing the reform that was expected to save it.

I am fascinated with stuff like this just like I am with The Titanic. They have a lot of videos on YouTube of YouTubers exploring the aftermath of Chernobyl and they are real interesting to watch.

Greenpeace Statistics show that the Chernobyl Disaster is responsible anywhere from 50,000 to 93,000 casualties due to radiation poisoning and related illness'. Aside from Ukraine itself, a lot of the fallout blew over into Sweden.
Greenpeace has issued a value of more than 20 times, 93,000 cases. If the fatalities of liquidators (6,000 people so far and ultimately 30,000 people) are added, the death toll from radiation exposure due to the Chernobyl accident eventually amounts to 50,000 to 90,000 people.

It’s just horrible to thing that all these victims suffered severally for something they couldn’t control, but their sacrifices must be remembered for as long as we can remember what they done to keep others safer that what wouldn’t happened, it’s still horrible to know that so many close to the disaster slowly suffered when they didn’t didn’t deserve it

It's fascinating yet depressing at the same time. I enjoy watching videos of people exploring the ruins of Chernobyl on Youtube.
