I post a lot on my forum, and majority of discussions are started by me.

Do you get turned off by a forum where the majority of the posts are by staff members?

Not really. I feel like a lot of it depends on the circumstances. Is it a newer forum that's just starting out? Then yeah, I would probably expect to see a good chunk of posts from the staff as they build up their member base. If it's a more established forum, then possibly. I think it would just depend on how active other members on the site are. If it's only staff posting in general, then to me, I feel like that means the site's not doing too well and might be on its way out, unfortunately. But if there's a lot of posts coming from staff and still some coming from the members, then I think it just shows the staff is really interacting and involved with their community.

No. I will prefer a forum where the staff is posting daily over one where is completely in silence. It is only a problem if the staff keeps making new content but never goes back to interact if someone does happen to try to answer back to them.

It doesn’t really bother me, it’s nice to see an active team! It does help if other members do post every so often but I’m not against staff having the majority of posts/activity as it shows they are committed to making the site work.

Why should they? At least they engage with the community as much as ordinary members do... and that admins are responsible for the creation of new discussions nevermind maintaining said community in general.

Most of us are posting the most...

I try to post three new topics a day and response to any replies. That's my current strategy.

I'm sure most of us are the ones posting the newest topics. That's how it has been for forums for a long time. At least in the 2+ decades I've been using them.

Eventually a forum could get big enough where new content is very balanced out.

But for smaller and newer ones, the staff and admin will be the lifeline of the community.

Well, I think there should be plenty of posts from the staff. It just means the staff is involved and invested in the forum.

It doesn't for me however it does for members, you will get those members that do get put off right away so gotta respect that. What I do not like to see is if the staff are posting and no members, or staff are posting and no other replies are being posted and all you see is the same person posted for each board XD

End of the day you can't always please everyone right. 😛 Just thing what members want the most.

Yes that's true you can't always please everyone, however I want to make my site as appealing as possible to my users. I've been listening to the pointers in this post though, and I'm not letting it bother me if majority of new posts/discussions are from me/staff members.

Gotta do what your real supported members really want not the once that troll 😛

As a potential forum member looking in, if I see a forum with a lot of daily content from the owner, then I see an owner willing to work at getting their forum active.

That makes me want to join and help them. 🙂

But when I see those forums where the owner does nothing but wait, I see a DEAD FORUM that not even the owner wants to invest their time in.

I think forum owners should remain the most active members of their community.

Nope, to me it's a good thing to see the Admins continuing to post even if there's no one else on the forums. That means they haven't given up on their community, and I would help by joining the forum and adding to the conversations.

No, it doesn't. However, it bothers to me to see a lot of topics with no replies or only two people replying to the same topic.

That is a really good question and it all depends. If the forum is new and has only opened a month or a few weeks ago then no, I won't be turned off it the posts and threads are done by mostly staff/admins. However, if it a forum that is a few years old and the only active posters are the staff than yes, that kind of drives me away.

At the early stages of a forum, I am less judgmental or even easier on the staff because it is also a new project to them too. However, when it comes to the forum being more than a few months old then I expect more posts from members.

No, not at all.

Honestly, a forum thrives when its staff team is actively contributing to the community.

It’s not off-putting and it’s encouraging to see a strong, engaged staff presence. It sets the tone for the forum’s activity and shows dedication to fostering discussions.

I rather consider myself as a member of my community before I consider myself an admin. So I will want to post anyway.
