I am a senior now and it is understandable that I am saving money for my retirement. But when I was younger, my savings was more for the activities like family gathering and parties, traveling with friends, buying something big like an appliance or furniture. I miss those days when I would save money for going to the movies and eating out. Admittedly, I now have the money for those minor activities but my main concern now is to have enough when I retire from my job.

Yes we save what we can, having kids and the never ending not knowing what is going to happen down the road so to speak, it is always good to have something tucked away is you need it at any time

My Grandfather (father's dad), worked as a coach and a health teacher, and his way of saving money, was never purchasing anything new, and only bought used stuff so that he could eventually spend off of the interest of his savings.

Right now I'm saving up so that I'll be able to resume grad school as I took a break last year to help with the problems around the house.

I been saving for when I retire since I had my first job at 16 thanks to my dad plus I save each month a little towards Christmas and Birthdays as I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren so far

Yep, I always save, have at least $1000 in reserve for whatever comes up.

We bought a new house. So, I'm currently saving money for renovation and furniture. I've already found a pair of manual recliners that will perfectly fit in my living room. I'll have to pay $380 for each one (found them on Amazon). Also, I need a coffee table and a sofa. And all this is only for one room. I guess, you understood that I need much money 🙂

Make sure you buy quality items so you don't have to buy those things again for a couple decades. Good furniture can really last! My husband and I bought our first house 30 years ago and we didn't buy the most expensive items, but we bought quality things and we still have our original Kitchen table/chairs, bedroom set and entertainment center (that nobody has anymore because those things are antiques LOL).

I think it's always a good idea to save some money just in case. I'm receiving student finance money at the moment, which is technically loan money, but I will still be saving a decent chuck of it.

My hubby and I have money in a savings account. We always try to keep save some money and keep it in the savings account because you never know when something is needing fixing or replacing or whatever.

Save to get nothing, gotta hate bills right

We save money. We don't really spend that much on anything. Most is for organic food. I learned the value of money early on so we don't believe in credit cards. We pay with cash. We don't have any debt.
@Lämmchen We've been married 22 years & still have some of the same things we bought at the beginning. It is sad that this generation won't have antiques.

I have started to save money by investing in an life insurance scheme. But otherwise, not much savings since I use it up for my own acute needs. I am going to start saving soon.

I put a certain amount of my pay into a separate account for rainy days or later in life if or when needed. I also put 10% into my 403B (work for a non-profit) which they match up to 8%, which is actually building pretty quick. My regular savings I used to buy a house in August, so have to let that start accumulating more.

I invest a portion of my weekly paycheck into cryptocurrency as I see it being the future. It's always best to have a "cushion" to fall back on should things not go your way or as planned.

Personally, I keep money in order to invest in real estate in the not too distant future. I'm not so worried about retirement, since I work in a government entity and therefore I have my pension insured.

I save as much money as I can only to spend it on bills like rent, the electric and water, natural gas, car insurance, so on and so forth. I'd be rich if I didn't have to pay any of those things. That's life.
