Do you think it is fine for people still using XP?

Yes it is 100% fine if you are using XP. XP was one of the most successful operating systems of all time. If it wasn't for this success, you wouldn't have Vista or Windows 7. There probably wouldn't be Mac OS X Lion either.

My advice is use either Windows 7 or XP. Avoid Vista if possible.

Personally, from what I've seen, I'd take XP over Windows 8 any day.

You have seen nothing but videos of Microsoft specialists merely testing certain GUIs. They are still working and changing stuff and they claim to "not to wait for Windows 8", meaning it won't be out for a while and many changes are to come.

The only works of Windows 8 is on a phone which is nowhere comparable to a computer.

I am aware of this.

They'll incorporate a feature to switch back to the traditional Windows experience for non-touchscreen monitors/displays.

As long as it does the job ...

I don't care about the OS. I have Windows 7 since my new laptop came with it. If it came with XP or Millenium Edition for all I care it was the same. I don't work in the OS, I use various software to do my job, so it's irrelevant what I use.

Having XP won't affect me anymore. I'm down to MineCraft, flash games and surfing the web, even having a Mac won't effect my web or gaming experience anymore. 😛

Considering that there is only two new operating systems out from Microsoft, one being Vista which was just awful and 7 which is great, if people want to use XP then that is fine because it's a decent piece of software but it holds a few security issues so it would be better to update. Although it's personal choice if you want to update or not.

Couldn't have explained it better. XP hasn't lost all hope. 😉

of course, its okay, why not? i mean, Xp's a good and stable OS. I'd rather use Xp myself instead of the newer ones.

The government here still uses XP. they wont go to anything further than XP because XP is still stable and does not eat resources I think

I think it is fine for now until they decide to stop maintaining it and updating it. As long as they continue to do so then it is still a very well built OS that is very light on resources.

Well, even then you could agree that Windows XP was built for people who don't do anything out of the ordinary. Who's with me? :3

you know I heard macs were notorious for crashing when you game? I'm really surprised that you say a mac is good for gaming.

Minecraft can run on any computer, I was implying that I only play Minecraft. (I actually play Counter Strike out of choice, I don't really like it that much, though.)

If you want a UI full of eye candy which has better performance and security than Windows Vista, then go for Windows 7.

If you prefer reliability (by that, I mean the programs available for it, not the OS, although XP and 7 are both very reliable) and speed, then go for XP.

The theme in XP isn't that bad. Take a look at Windows 2000. Now that is atrocious!

I think it's fine, but eventually they're going to have to upgrade. With Windows 8 just around the corner, Windows XP is almost three versions old. Microsoft can't support it forever. 😉

I use it on my small notebook. Does the job wonderfully, so I don't know why bother with another install, if this one is working great.

I heard that XP is the best Windows series so far. I know lots of people who still use it and have no problem at all. Depends on the need, maybe, if there isn't anything much why bother upgrading since it costs money as well. ^^

Indeed it is. Most people don't mind using Windows XP, as long as they are still in tune with the older things. 😛
