Do you think it is fine for people still using XP?

Maybe the RAM was being held into the sockets with duct tape.

My grandma brought her computer to me to fix, and it had cobwebs inside it. O_O
thats so gross and disgusting.

Thats discuting how old was the computer?
She bought it in 2006 or 2007, I think. She probably hadn't cleaned it out once since she got it.

I have a 10 year old Dell XP computer and honestly? It works better than my new vista laptop!! something to be said for the old guys!!

For people who cant afford to upgrade, its not a problem. For the people to lazy or stupid to upgrade, you have a HUGE problem.

Support is being dropped for it in two years time, heaps of time for people to still use it and upgrade later.

I wouldn't consider this a problem because it is a fine operating system however, when support runs out they really should move on. While they could maintain the operating system on their computers by themselves, they should move on to another newer and updated version of Windows for the sole reason of keeping up with technology. As operating systems advance, they will allow users to do more and more, and those sticking with old versions of Windows will be left out.

I agree. Some things on Windows 7 that I use on a daily basis that I couldn't on XP, it would be difficult to go back. However, since I'm so used to Windows 7 that I don't think that I will be upgrading or downgrading any time soon. 😉

Nothing wrong with still using Windows XP. But if you can afford it, then Windows 7 is the way to go. Easily. As soon as I got Windows 7, I never looked back. Well only to get my files. Haha. 🙂

I don't even see why this is a question for discussion. Who cares?

Seriously, if I say I use XP, what can you do about it if you don't like it? Become a keyboard warrior?

So of course it's fine to use XP.

Nope, it will be end of life soon, if it hasn't already, no updates will be released for it and it will be overrun with virus's.

True, but I bet some businesses and schools still run XP for the sake of just sticking to XP for the reason of not needing to upgrade on a office computer or something. I think that XP is just soon going to have no hope of still moving on even though it was a great operating system and it will almost always have a purpose of being there, it's just that Microsoft hasn't decided to move on much yet and I'm sure some people are looking forward to Windows 8. (iPhone  )

Well im on xp... because when we were gonna buy 7.. the program that said if you could run it said i couldnt, then shortly after the offer had gone it decided i could :/

I'm guessing this time next year it will be mostly dead and unused. 🙂

Awww, that must have been terrible. At least you spend a little bit more time with the operating system that we all loved that will soon almost completely vanish into the basic programs, but now going back to XP or even bothering trying is just kind of like going back in time. Way back. Like back into the days of Windows 98. I do highly recommend 7, though. :O

Yea.. one day schools will update from xp.. hopefully

But windows 8 dosen't look very nice... theres not even a start button 🙁

lol

I think Windows 8 looks basically like a phone, while being difficult to navigate around, hard to get used to, almost impossible to get the hang of at all after switching from one of the other operating systems that have a different user interface. Perhaps it's just me or it really is, but that's my honest opinion on Windows 8. Oh, Microsoft. :shake:

Exactly my thoughts, it looks like windows phone, and it will be used on tablets and stuff..

On a computer... eww

I wish it wasn't so over-complicated, I mean I don't think computers should be so hard to use considering there are tons of hidden tools for it and stuff that I will never switch because I know that it's hard to get used to things for me and going from Windows 7 to Windows 8 will be such a big change that I don't think I could actually ever get used to it, so that's why I think I'm going to be using Windows 7 for a looooong time. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one either mainly because people who use many of the new options to Windows 7 that they will never be able to find on Windows 8 so they stay with Windows 7. To be honest ,I feel the same way because so much stuff will change that I just won't be able to get used to the fact that everything will be organized in tabs. I'm not sure exactly if the things on Windows 7 exactly work on the Windows 8 desktop, but I know for sure that I'm not going to switch to Windows 8 just because of a couple minor tweaks.

I think that people may switch to Windows 8 if they could somehow get used to the very new options and interface. Like say they use a phone most of their time, they may have a different point of view than we do. Maybe they could possibly mod Windows 8 to somehow mod it in a sort of way, but in that case people could stick to their original operating systems. In my opinion, Windows 8 will completely rob Microsoft because I bet only about 30% of the people will switch because to be honest, I think everything that is implemented into Windows 8 will confuse everybody especially the things that are new, most of the things that could be downloaded, for example on Windows 7, which in my opinion would be much easier than switching to Windows 8 in all. In that case, all of the modern operating systems are better than Windows 8 in any possible way just because every other operating system is actually usable

I hope I wasn't being to harsh or offending anybody with this post.

I think having it sync with your windows phone could be pretty cool..

But microsoft usually mess up every other version of windows (like xp > VISTA > 7)

So windows 9 hopefully will be better but its a long way off..

I know i cant say much since i havent actually tried it.

I dont think they should of had such a big change, just improve windows 7..

:/
