I am using Lubuntu 14.10 because I rather use a desktop environment which is similar to Windows, and other Desktop based operating systems.
So far, Lubuntu 14.10 runs pretty well when I use it to browse the web, edit pictures, watch video, and do other tasks.
I like how fast Lubuntu 14.10 is. Programs launch in a few seconds, and it takes under a minute to start up into Lubuntu, and a few seconds to shutdown Lubuntu.

I have used Ubuntu but it is not 14.10.
It was eariler version of ubuntu 13.6 or something. I am really very bored with Windows because of virus and other issues.
I would like to come back to Ubuntu. If it gives me better experience I will move permenent to 14.10 Ubuntu.

Linux Mint is an operating system based on Ubuntu which is worth checking out. I find Linux Mint pretty easy to use.
I don't really like how Windows has so many viruses, Blue Screen error problems, problems with Windows Upadates not working, or breaking Windows sometimes, so I use more Linux based operating systems these days.

I put Unbuntu on my wife's machine, use Apple myself and do not allow anything Microsoft to enter my home. Well, except for Office for Mac.
If it wasn't for Office and Xbox, Microsoft would already be ancient history. Their phone attempts alone are draining millions and millions from their company.
Ubuntu, Mint and many other Linus flavors are great OS and are gaining in popularity.
