I will be selling advertisement spots on my website and I wanted to keep it separate from my personal account so I opened up another Paypal account. I recently got an email stating I need to provide a business license of some sort but I don't have that nor do I plan on getting one because I don't think I would generate that much money from the site. However I'm not sure if it's smart to use my personal Paypal account to handle this sort of thing.

Any advice?

I believe you chose the business paypal account, which requires you to have a business license.

If I was you, I would just set up another personal paypal account and use that for business use. Thats what I do and it works out perfectly 🙂

I have a business account, but that is because I run my sites through my business. Like Deltachi said, setting up another paypal account for you site should be fine.

I use my personal account for paying the hosting bill, and other stuff related to building the site. However I use another account for taking donations, and subscriptions.

This is exactly my approach, I dont really see the point in a business account unless your cash flow is in the XXXX's monthly range.

Thank you all for your advice. I'm glad to see there is a solution! 😉

I don't think there is a solution: http://andrewminalto.com/multiple-ebay-paypal-accounts/. You can only have 1 personal account and as many business accounts that you can provide company registrations for. One thing you could do is upgrade your personal account to a premier account add another email to accept payments related to your website.

It's a smart decision to make another PayPal account, but like Sam said, they'll eventually catch up. Your full name must reflect your bank account information, unfortunately.

Bitcoins are too risky.

I do. Fortunately, PayPal allows you to add emails to link to your account so you could sell using [email protected] and it goes into your personal account.

PayPal has stepped up their game, of course creating another personal account would be best but they will eventually catch up and disable your account, and they have gotten better at doing these things. 😛

I think Google Wallet allows this kind of thing, Google Account or not, people can send you money and it's just like PayPal. That's what I would use instead of another PayPal account, Google Wallet is easy and you even get your own Visa card. 😛

Oh ok Thanks for the suggestions you guys. I will look into Google Wallet.

I used PayPal when I was running my web hosting company to process payments. I just upgraded my personal account to a business one, which is free. I did not need a business license, tax ID number, etc. It worked pretty well. I'm currently trying to revert the account back to a personal one now, but overall PayPal's business account level is great. Invoices and payments are easily tracked and your personal information is masked and replaced with the information you provide for your business.

It depends on the site. If the site is my portfolio where people can order my services, then yes. If it's the iZimmbiRADIO one, then no. I set up different Paypal accounts depending on the site and the demands for the account. It really just depends.

So.... I tried to close my second paypal account today and apparently it now has limitation. In order to close the account I must provide proof to resolve the limitations. One is for a utility bill that's fine I can provide that but the other is a business license document. I don't plan on getting that and this has become a nightmare that I'm just giving up on the project altogether. HOWEVER my bank account is now linked to this account and I'm not comfortable with just leaving it open. I called customer service and she told me there is nothing she can to do help because of the limitation. She said to email the compliance department (which I did, waiting on a response) but she said she doesn't think they will help me either because of the limitation. I don't know what to do!!! 🙁

Can't you unlink your bank account? I've never been on PayPal so I don't know. What did they say when you told them you don't have a business document to show?

They won't let me change anything in the paypal account through the website because of the limitations. The representative said that I can't change anything or close anything until I resolve the limitations. 🙁

How on earth do they expect you to resolve it when you literally cannot? I would probably ask to speak to someone in charge and explain the situation, they usually always do that for you. It cannot be the only time someone signs up for a business account like this.

I received an auto reply saying their reviewing my account and will get back to me. I hope they'll help me out.

Oh that's a good sign. Hopefully you can get this figured out. 😀
