Well, we all know the popular saying "Age does not matter", but to some extent you will get to see it matters, let me say, it matters to me, cause i can't really marry someone way older than me, i can mange my age mate.
But i don't think i will be able to cope with someone older than me, by a large margin. Because of alpha issues and respect itches.

Nope. Years ago they get married at an low age of 14 (not always, depending) and since it was an different life back 100 years ago it's there mums and dads get them to married to anyone guy. Hard times that 18 girl to an 35 old guy.
now the law is not so hard. Things are easy and not so stressful or they have to do this or that.
My husband is 8 years older than me but I can say that our compatability is ideal. For us, age doesn't matter somehow. And I don't think it is really the age that is often a factor in a relationship but the personality of the spouses or partners. I know of couples who are of the same age but they don't appear to be compatible and other couples in the same age bracket are compatible. In short, age does not really matter much.
I think it depends on the culture, but then again, I'm talking about extreme examples. The example provided by the OP isn't odd in the US; in fact, my brother was born in 1968, but his wife in 1980, I think.
When 2 people really love each other the age does not matter.
Anything else, that is not really love, has the potential of being problematic due to age differences,etc.
There is an age gap between my hubby and I. He is almost 10 years older than myself. So, I can't really criticize anyone who is in a relationship and there is an age gap between themselves and the other person. Since there is an age gap between myself and my hubby, then obviously I'm not going to have an issue with it.
Maturity definitely matters in this case. Age does matter in that you don't want an 18 year old and an 80 year old together. 😛
It's important that both partners have the same maturity level and can support each other throughout life. Other than that, as they say, age is just a number. 😀
