What's the easiest way to set up a shop on a website to sell goods and receive payments?

I’d imagine people will use WordPress and use a plugin for a shop, or try to embed Shopify on their website.

IPB has it built-in into the system to sell good and whatnot 🙂 I sell games 😉 paid for what you get and easy to setup.

1. Which software do you use for your website

2. What do you want to sell

3. PayPal is the best money handling agency if you are doing sales outside the limits of a particular country

Pending on what you are selling there is Etsy for crafted goods, very popular and has a marketplace. If you are looking for standalone there is Shopify very easy and user friendly. Then Wordpress has a couple plugins like WP Easycart and Woocommerce that are also easy to setup and use.

I like WP easycart better since it adopts to any theme and comes with features that Woocommerce charges for as a plugin.

I would double highly recommend Shopify. Shopify is an e-commerce platform specifically designed to help merchants start their store in a few simple clicks. It's really user-friendly, simple to add products to your store and very customizable. I'm currently using it and love it, lots of high-quality apps to extend the platform.

I'm just waiting for you to create shop.forumpromotion.net. 😛

I've built my own shopping software, it took a while and is still basic but has allowed me to earn some extra money on the side.

Aside from that I think Shopify is good but costs a lot per month.

Shopify is pretty great! I use it a lot. It can be a little bit expensive but they also have a lite plan for $9USD/month where you can still use the Shopify Admin but you won't have an online store. This is generally used for sites that have a Wordpress blog or something similar.

I think that may depend on what kind of software you use for your forum/blog. Each different kind of software is going to have different ways of setting that up.

There are different CMS systems for it but what a lot of people that have Xenforo do is buy an add-on called Dragonbyte Shop that you can find on Xenforo and simply create the shop via the forum itself. Even a lot of add-on developers use this add-on for payments on their board to buy their add-ons.

Like others have said, most people probably go the route of using an external service (Shopify), or then embed it into their CMS software and handle payments probably through PayPal or so.

If you have a WordPress site, you can install woocommerce plugin which will enable ecommerce functionality on your site.

For me, it really depends on the purpose of why I want to have access to selling goods on the website. If I want to have better automation and easier breakdown reporting, I would use services that are dedicated to hosting shops for you. Like having an online goods store for website branded clothing and products that people can buy, that can be used to help identify the site.

If it is for digital goods, I don't mind hosting the shop onsite, as I wouldn't need to leave the site to know if someone purchased something, as I don't have to do any additional login and verification measures to get invoices.

And then do all that work with no sales
