This x1000. If a great host like EH couldn't make it, I'm not comfortable putting my trust in any other FP member's hosting account either.

Looking at their prices, I can see why. (According to the last Archive from here) I don't think they made a lot of profit? The tactics with all the free options got people in, Smart idea, But you need to make some profit especially when you don't own the hardware and IP space.

Considering they're mostly resellers of another host, I'd rather just go straight to the main source and be safer from now on. I doubt I'd even want to buy hosting from Nerdie or Fergal at this point. Nothing against them, of course.
That's like saying because HawkHost doesn't own their own IP space, They are resellers....But yes I understand what you're saying 😛. A lot of the hosts here are resellers, maybe some are using VPS. That's why I only trust companies that own their hardware, and gets a plus if they own the IP space.

I think saying you don't trust FP hosts anymore is a little unfair.

And yet, whoever said that, I can fully agree with.

While I get where they are coming from, I have never been fond of one ruins it for all, and I think people should still give FP members hosts a chance, if they wish. You gotta buy from respected users, not users that just joined.

An analogy is if you get laid off from work, you say you will never get a job in this town again.

Well, I've officially moved to Inmotion Hosting now and they're great! My website is faster and I now have unmetered storage and bandwidth which is great, as I was getting extremely close to needing to upgrade on EH. Seems like EH closing hasn't been as bad as I thought it was going to be, the move was easy and because I use Cloudflare everyone's on the new website right now, not in 48 hours like it sometimes takes when you move hosts!

That's because you changed an IP in Cloudflate's system, not changed nameservers completely. That's why I like Cloudflare.

I think I have narrowed things down to UZR Hosting, Hostisto, and Goldsboro Web Development. Now I need to figure out which one is my favorite. 😛

It's fantastic that you have two hosts owned by FP members. It's great that you are continuing to support the community. 🙂

My personal suggestion is Hostisto if you're looking to go with someone from FP. His servers are very fast.

This reply is a little late, but I ended up moving to UZR Hosting. Things have been pretty good so far. The transfer was very easy as well. 🙂

I found my time on Simplix hosting a waste of time, quickly found out their servers can't run a IPB board well. I'm now with geek ghost hosting and there a good hosting, no issues with them yet.

...I am sorry to all involved ....
Very sorry to hear that you have closed your hosting business Sshadow, you were a great supporter of FP and I'm sorry that you have had some difficulties recently.

Had you considered selling the service at all, rather than closing it.

Unfortunately, people try to do malicious things to FP too. But the admins (Fergal and now Nerdie) have really kept the forum safe and running through it all.
Thanks for that Rick Ace, I appreciate your kind words. However, I would like to add that Fowler deserves most of the credit for that, during my ownership of FP. He is much more knowledgeable in that area than me and he worked tirelessly on security at Forum Promotion.

according to what he told me in a support ticket he had offers to move or sell out. In the end he decided to move everything to another hosting.

I would imagine anyone that needed hosting because of this already has it, considering it's been about a month since EH went offline. I'd like to see the shameless plugs stop, personally.
