Wow, I've been on Empire Hostings for so long. I'll go scouting.
If you need a cheap and reliable host, I would recommend KVChosting. They are amazing. Great uptime, great support and great prices. Only 1.89 per month for their unlimited bandwidth and 100GB of disk space. Although you need to pay for 3 years to get this price, its only around $68 for 3 years. The company has been around for years and is very trustworthy. PM me if you have any questions.
It's sad to see Empire Hostings go. I know the owner and was under the impression everything was going very well for him. Empire Hostings has been around for a few years now, which means a lot in the hosting industry. As for the people now in need of hosting my advice to you is shop around. There are good providers (and bad providers...unfortunately) out there. 😉

I've used them since December 2012 and I haven't had any issues with them. No unscheduled downtimes, (there was 1 scheduled downtime which they announced a month in advance and the downtime was less than an hour), no slowdowns or interruptions at all.
Their support is pretty good, if you have any questions they get back to you pretty quickly. So definitely worth looking into.

That is the first I have heard of it and I work their as support and sales. No body told me until we got flooded with support tickets about it. If I had a lot of money to keep the current Empire Hosting open I would.
I am going to vouch for Rat Hosting (https://www.rathosting.com) as they have been excellent with me. I haven't needed support with them so I don't know what it is like but they have great uptime and fast loading times (for me anyway and I am with Sky which says it all). It is slightly more expensive for the plan you would want as it is in GBP but is worth the money. That is my two cents anyway.

After reading this thread in its entirety, I was pretty disgusted. The topic of the thread should have been that EH is closing and not *post your host here*.
People who are saying bad things about EH clearly have no idea about its history. EH was definitely one of the most reliable and longest-running hosts to be advertised on FP. It was one of the only hosts who had easy to contact staff and rarely had any complaints. Shadow has worked with the FP community while running this host. The loss of this host is something Forum Promotion is going to miss. 🙁 Running on a well-taken care of dedicated server, EH was one of the best hosts we've had here.
The 1 week and a half notice is ample in my opinion. Knowing what Shadow has been through, it was very nice of him to provide that time frame. Many more profitable and larger hosts have gone down without notice. And others have gone done with just a link for owners to download their files. The closure of EH is sad for everyone on FP, but was handled professionally by the owner.
