Well don't you just dislike it, when some of the posts on your forum have bad grammar or spelling?

Do you think it's a good idea to encourage users to use a spellchecker or to improve their spelling/grammar?

Ginger is good, but it doesn't work across all platforms, and only works on some forums.

The main problem is that a lot of non English people do not know what good grammar is.

As long as its readable, I'm not gonna ask any member of mine to use better grammar.

I do, I do. In terms of feeling a bit annoyed when I look at a member's post and the way he writes is just so confusing to my eyes. But, well, as Pokemon said, as long as other members can understand, I'll be fine. The community is what matters to me. Telling someone to improve their language by using spell checker might be a bit offensive for several people, so better be careful there.

I generally just try to set an example. It's not too big of a deal. I'd rather have some members with okay grammar, then less members with perfect grammar.

Usually I don't correct people but it depends how bad it is. For example, i hav smeome,, tat talks like tis in evry sntenec an TMF.

Half the time you can barely make out what he's saying. He's from the United States, he just doesn't bother to spell check. So yes, I will correct people like him.

All I hope is that I can understand you. If I can do that then we won't have any issues.

I ban text talk from the off, and just delete the post, they get the message....eventually

They would probably just leave; I know I tried forcing members on my old forum to do something and they didn't really care for it.
I told them to stop spaming the shoutbox, and they actually stopped posting and left! I'd say the same or similar results would happen.

I definitely dislike it when a member uses improper grammar, but I don't tell them because it's rude because you're saying they have bad spelling and grammar because you may not be able to get the point across correctly and second of all because it's readable and that's all that matters, maybe English isn't their first language and they can't write very well or some other reason that they can't write correctly.

Honestly now a days, everyone has bad grammar and spelling. My spelling is pretty good myself, but I wouldn't say that about my grammar.

Anyways I always find mistakes when reading stuff online and even in the newspaper. It has been happening too much that I am used to it and have started to write like others now.

I find that as long as its understandable then it is fine. I don't have to read it twice to understand what on Earth is happening.

I do not have good spelling, as I do not proofread. But on my forum, I tend to write gtg or brb but then delete it and type out got to go or be right back.
