I went to this match and I must say, the first half was terrible. Fans booing players when they got the ball. You can understand why (because of the poor world cup performance) but that is no reason why you should. Support your country. Tons of people said they wouldn't boo but I heard 70 odd thousand people booing. I was not one of them.
0-0 at half time, at least we weren't loosing. Big change around with 4 subs coming on at half time. Kieran Gibbs, Ashley Young, Michael Dawson and Zamora. A good move in my opinion.
Another poor match from Rooney, coming off in the 66th minute and being booed from the home support. Waved a sarcastic goodbye when he walked off then fans cheered.
Hungary then scored after a slip up in the defence from Jagielka and Dawson but was it actually a goal? I got back home from the hotel just in time to watch the replay on TV. It did look like a goal from my seat. I had a good view because I was right on the half way line. The whole ball must cross the line for it to be a goal and I'm sure only 3/4 of it had gone over the line.
The whole Gerrard and Lampard idea does not work. Boring first half when they played together then Lampard came off and Gerrard played great. After going 1-0 down Gerrard worked his magic. Scoring two goals in the space of minutes. First a spinning and dipping effort. Kiraly had no chance. Then a wonderfully worked goal. Ashley Young's pass into Gerrard setting up the dummy, turns off one player, onto the left foot then right. Keeper comes out and he pokes it round the keeper. 2-1!
