Sometimes, I really want to open my own admin forum. Though I know they are very common and almost everyone has them, so the niche is overly saturated. So, I don't actually hold high hopes of success for such a forum, but that doesn't stop me from wanting to own one. I just love talking about admin topics; managing forums, keeping a community alive. Though I'm very active on some admin forums now, I just feel like that same time could be spent building my own community rather than someone else's.

How do you reconcile the feeling to have a forum that is in an overly saturated niche (but you still love it), with the fact that it will likely never succeed?

Just wondering if maybe there is another way to satisfy my need to having an admin forum. Maybe blogging would be the answer. Or, if I could come up with a less saturated forum niche. Possibly, I just want to own another forum and any topic would do. What are your thoughts?

It's the same with gaming forums. I think it would be awesome to run an active gaming forum but getting it active when the niche is so overly saturated is near impossible nowadays.

I think your best bet is establish yourself in an already active admin community and hope to become a part of their staff team so you can share that feeling of managing the community. 🙂

I think it's definitely possible. Nothing is impossible. The reason that so many forums and websites fail is because individuals are easily discouraged or expect immediate results. Look at my website, for example:

May: 2500 unique views
June: 3900 unique views
July (so far): 5400 unique views

It isn't exactly Facebook, but it is showing improvements. I keep consistent with it. I have posted something every day for the last three months. When I build up the money, I will start investing into it financially. After a point, I want to break it off into a forum-site as well.

I had a lot of practice at this though. I started running a forum in 2007, it took nearly six years for me to actually become "Good" at it in-terms of structuring, promotion, and consistency.

This is a very good idea. I am now admin on a very large SEO/webmaster related forum and it's a very enjoyable experience.

You've made very good progress quickly and have a long history of forum management. So I'm sure your current forum will do very well. 🙂

Hey!

I am happy that you are coming up with the courage to take on an adventure you know have slim hopes of succeeding. The fact that you are willing to try is a reason for you to go ahead.

On a more related note, I will tell you this - people don't care about how crowded a niche is as long as you can bring innovation. Think of something new and hybrid. It will click.
