More specifically, the Baidu Spider is sucking up my Bandwidth so I really only want that spider to die. I've seen on other forums where those bot/spider accounts have been deleted but they are still large, indexed and active.
The Baidu Spider seems to live on my forum. I see it almost 24/7. I've banned the Baidu account, in hope it will leave. Seems like its working. However, I still am losing bandwidth so fast.
If you remove the spider, then you will get less indexing and a lower PR, however, it may be worth removing it and banning it's IP in the cPanel IP Deny Manager as even if you remove the bot on the forum it will still come on your site and suck bandwidth.
If your delete a bot from the bot list, it will still index you site as much as it was indexing your site previously. The whole reason the bot list is there is to detect bots so they can be treated as a different group compared to human guests. You can allow bots to see things that guests can't or vice versa. If you delete a bot from the list, it won't show as online but it will still visit and it will just be treated as a guest and can only see what a guest see.
Also, when bots view your site and get treated as a bot, it means that they will index your site better as if a bot gets treated as a bot it doesn't show the sid at the end of the links like it sometimes do to guests. It handles "bots" differently compared to normal users.
To stop a bot visiting you need to block their ips or ip ranges they use.
