Hello all...

Lately I've seen some forums which call themselves as "Forum hybrids".
What does that mean?
Is it a good idea?
Maybe I should change my forums into hybrid forums?
What do you think would it be a good idea? Currently it is just general discussions about life experiences (or something...)
Thank you!

Best Wishes,
Zaborg

What would be my options with ShareYourExp.com? Any ideas?

Its nothing new.
There have always been forums that are about everything you could think of. "Hybrid" is just a new nickname I suppose.

I think that is basically a new vocabulary word in today's forums. I think back then, such a forum would be considered a Miscellenous or Other genera, as it's not really about anything specific.

I seen one forum that said it was Hybrid, was half about Call of Duty (or some other game) and the other half about advertising your forum. Kinda weird. So in some cases I don't think its a very good idea.

It's not up to us to tell you or suggest to you to change your forum into another niche to form a hybrid. Your forum more or less is a hybrid as it has a gaming/entertainment section which doesn't directly relate to personal experiences.

It's up to you. You own the board so you are the owner. You get to choose what gets put and what doesn't. So it's worthless to ask around as it's your final decision. If we say no you may still go through with it. Just talk with your forum and see what your users say rather than the whole world. Half the people who post in this will be people who haven't even signed up to your forum. You need user feedback on your forum. Open a global announcement and get some feedback from your community.

I've noticed that that people have started using that word after The Hazey closed. It's just a word and doesn't add anything to your board, I can call your forum a hybrid although it doesn't mean anything.

Well yea. Just one thing - I don't have any members on my forums yet... So I can't really ask anyone there.

My whole idea why I am asking this is - could my domain suit any other genre, like graphics, webmastering..and so on. I'm just asking that here.

Yes it might have been used before but after people saw how popular The Hazey was, others have followed suit and hoping that having forum hybrid in their name will make their site a success.

Okay, nevermind, looks like that I'm not getting any answers here 😛

i would say with the domain YOU HAVE it wont work to be a hybrid forum as your domain is very fixed on one topic

And how would you call that fixed topic?

Just the domain name is fixed to one subject if you get what i mean

i think it could be a hybrid as you could share your experience on several different topics...

I don't get them. If that is true isn't every forum a 'hybrid'? We all have a general chat forum..
