Info Forum Promotion: What Comes Next?

The first post says a lot without actually saying anything to be honest.

Not a lot has happened on FP for a while which isn't a bad thing but people have been trying to come up with new ideas for a long time and nothing has materialised. There's only so much you can do on forums, especially a forum dedicated to advertising other forums.

Based on my recent thread I understand I'm now seen as an arsehole in the community and people don't like my opinion which is cool, I've been spending less and less time here as I don't think it benefits anyone. I read this thread though and I just thought that this is yet another initiative that'll fall flat because the truth of the matter is people need one thing from FP and that's advertising space, nothing else.

If you pick 10 forums at random from FPs directory, it's made up of the same member pool that is on FP. There's no new outsiders on people's communities. What has been put into practice isn't working. A reshuffle of forums, some names changed and the next roster of members being promoted to staff isn't going to give FP the big refresh it needs.

I suppose all I'm really saying is, FP has had this big '2.0' moment about 5 times already in the past 5 years. I'd think of some suggestions but I've already been made aware I'm not very welcome here so I won't bother.
I will agree with you, nothing has happened on here in some time now, as for Ideas we have hundreds that have been posted over the last few years that have collected dust, and every one of them does have open active discussions now, not all of them will make the cut however they all are being looked at.

The member pool for forums in general is shrinking slowly, To overcome this we plan to have a person or a few in place just to focus on new memberships and retainment, is this going to work? maybe not however we will give it a try. (More to come)

As for being seen here as an asshole I don't see it that way, everyone has their one way of expressing thoughts, I sometimes can be seen as a dick as well however it's in the delivery, we value your feedback, as stated above I know you care as you continue to visit.

FP 2.0 - 3.0 or whatever the name is it really doesn't matter, the problem with the other BIG 2.0 is that it was just one big splash that lasted a few days and it was over and without member involvement, I think some of it was the wrong approach, I also think doing this in steps is the way to go, giving members and staff time to adjust to something new each time, many of the changes that happen here will be member-driven.

I hope you continue to visit and be part of the community.🙂

Yep, hate to say it but it is true. It is hard to get active members even from the 'member pool' who join from FP on your forum though. Think the issue is some of them are on so many forums already it is hard for them to keep up to be honest. I would have to say 1 member is from a Discord server I'm a part of though on my own forum.

Some suggestions:

1) Unban discussion and promotion of NFTs and cryptocurrency. This was a backwards move fueled by people misinformed on the subject, all it did was make the FP staff look like angry old men who don't understand technology.

2) Stop focusing on just forums. Expand to cover more community types (Discord, Other Social Media), forums aren't what they were and you need to adapt.

3) Give people a reason to be here and post. Posting packages and reviews are good for newbies who are just starting their forum, but what about after that? There are no services for people who are not new. FP Social posts don't get any views and I'm sure the impact of forum redirects etc; is very minimal. After a certain point there just isn't any reason to stick around or be active.

  1. You bring up a good point here, we are looking at doing social groups here on FP, Group creators can and will be able to create their own groups within FP, and they will have the ability to admin the group like any other forum, can be a closed group or by invite, we are still working on how we are going to implement this into the community however they can be used for topics of this nature.
  2. We are also looking at ways to do just that with the pages FP has in place.
  3. What other services would keep you here? we would love to provide as many services as possible and welcome all ideas.

Thanks for the feedback.🙂

Eh, don't know really. I dunno when they banned it myself

Yes I agree. Forums are not near as popular anymore. No one who owns a Discord sadly wants to post their server when there's so many Discord directories already. Most of them end up having spammers, trolls, or worse so I removed mine from them. The rest, yeah think so.

Does not matter what you do to a forum. It will always be slow and inactive these days. There's a lack of forum owners due to forums not being worth the investment and time anymore I feel. FP social media posts never get views because of Facebook and Twitter.

One big problem I see with forums is the lack of partnership, the pool is getting small so I think site owners should be looking at ways to support fellow forum owners without the Drama.
It truly does seem to be an issue. It had been way back in the day too with certain forums having a rivalry etc. Sad it's still a thing in 2023 when forums are not what they used to be. All forum genres/niches should just work together and not against each other. It's a shame people like causing and stirring drama when most of them are grown adults. I admit I don't get along with everybody, and sometimes my anger does get the best of me. It's rough as it is keeping and getting members on forums, so we should be friends not enemies.

I actually have an event idea for this that I considered doing on Promotion Future...but I might tell you guys about it and see if you're willing to do it. I think since FP is more active that it would help more forum owners that way. I'll message you and Pgen later about it.
