Forums that copy FP

Yes and no. Its really how you define promotion forum. You can't stereotypically say that FP is what all promotion forums should look like. Admin zone has a place to promote, review, forum directory, exchanges, promotion tips, interviews, graphics. Many of them, FP has, so its arguable.

Yeah, there really is no definition. However it is a good debate 🙂

To me, copying FP is annoying. It makes you lazy if you just copied off. Its like someone copying your site. If they are copying the exact same guidelines, images, and all the other stuff FP has, then its bad. Ever heard of the word plagiarism? Well this is not part of the topic but telling you, copying will result in major penalties.

Copying will never lead to success. Hopefully, my site is not copying FP or other sites

Two years ago, one year ago, one month ago and one week ago called. They all want their topic back.
[/sarcasm]

I don't really care, to be honest. Even if a forum is a carbon copy, the members are different so it will still have a tiny shred of originality. That's not to say I support carbon copies, though. I think every Admin should try to put their own little spice into their forums to differ it from others.

But hey, somebody will always try to imitate this forum simply due our stats. Just gotta get over it.

Every good forum is copied at least once. This just means that FP has made it. XD
Even UW was copied by a forum called OW lol. I guess that means we're good XD

Anyway I just lol at the forums that copy.

Well I believe MadAds came before FP as well. I may be wrong. It has since closed down, but none the less. And yes the Admin Zone is a promotion/admin based forum.

The Admin Zone does have an exchange section, but you have to join the launch team first (that's sort of like a forums of the month) and post at launch sites. Also, they don't implement a points system like here. Either way, they're more of a general site administration forum, even though they have dedicated boards for each of the major forum software there. Either way though, in a way, Forum Promotion compared to it is apples and oranges. I'm on both, and I believe both are excellent resources for any admin.

My perspective is that there shouldn't even be anymore promotion forums being made. I mean seriously, is it me, or am I seeing at least 5 new promotion forums a day? And not only are they promotion forums, but promotion websites as well. Why don't people just stop worrying about creating a promotion site/forum? To be honest, any promotion forum that is created this time period won't get anywhere. The only way you are to have an active promotion forum is if it was made at least 2 or 3 years ago. If there was one made yesterday, then the owner will most definitely quit the forum a few weeks after it was created because he or she is bored with it.

I agree with the user that said that if you were going to user someone's idea, then you should at least make it look totally different and make it original; and then branch off the idea. Don't just go off, copy something completely, and expect to get it popular when it's already popular due to the original creator of the idea. It's pointless, absolutely pointless. Be an original, not a clone. In my eyes, a person who copies is just an equivalent ratio of a bottom-feeding scavenger.

I'm not against new promotion forums being opened. People shouldn't be discouraged about becoming Admins of anything just because there have been bigger ones in the past.

blah blah blah.
Sorry I have nothing really to say.
Copiers are lame.

It's like copying the sounds but not the language.

Because they don't get it. My site's been a victim of copying more times than I can count. It's rather painful to look at...I just report them to their forum host most of the time, but don't break my back over it.

Many people in history have tried to assume someone else's success by ripping them off. They pretty much always fail, unless they take whatever it is and put an original spin on it. But that would be more of "influence" than plain old imitation.

These faded carbon copy forums generally all fold pretty fast. They fail to understand the main thing that made the original one successful: originality.

I'm all for originality and original ideas do work best. However, in reality all businesses keep an eye on their competitors and try to improve on what they offer.

Did Google copy Yahoo?

Google certainly copied some things from Yahoo, but they built on it and made a clean new product that had a fresh feel to it, and was less cluttered, simpler to use, and worked better. So I feel this falls under "influence" more than outright imitation. Nobody is an island. From the beginning people took ideas and things they learnt and imparted a new spin on them to bring out something new and improved.

Progress marches on, but new inventions don't come out of nowhere. They're generally a step ahead of the times, but still show signs of originating, however minimally, from something earlier.

Hey, what's your take on forums that copy FP? I mean they are really easy to pick out,
they have the same forums, same team names and pretty much don't make an ounce of
difference to peoples forums, what's your opinion about these forums?
They have an identity crisis.
