Well, that's not saying a lot of kick-starting campaigns aren't done by people who have done a lot of work. However, the debate would be whether some of them are people just wanting funding cash for nothing. Well, anyway, most of the time I think fund-raising bombs anyway, so they don't get easy money.

GoFundMe is an wast as there are so many people asking for things and yet they get nothing. Then again most people rather donate to people in need. Then at times seen people donating allot to people that want an car or even PC hardware

Comically, I think the joke on the Facebook Meme was about starting a lawnmower - and nothing else! 😵

Oh, yeah, a biz start-up for someone really trying is cool and also charity - but not TVs, of course! :arghh:

I never donate to these. Too many stories of people running off with the money.

Fundraising is very tough. Even if you got something really good, don't count on Go Fund Me or Patreon to work very easily.

At this point in time, I think fund raising sites are good for people who legit use them to actually start a business.

It's a tough sell because always it's (with others) "What's in it for me?". Why should be support your cause - unless they're a shareholder etc. - and they're not even going to be that - unless they think there's a return (on investment)?

If you need the money then go to work and earn it, save up. That's the best option

Most of the time we all don't make money from our site's. Most of the time what ever we get it goes back to the server

Depends on how much traffic you can generate via buying it or getting it from search engines (need high metrics to achieve this via backlinks and other things) Anyway, people won't link to things not any good normally. Not being mean to anyone - but it's a harsh competition.

Not many of us gets high traffic anymore. Only the very very big community based forums. Yet again those site's that get very big traffic got to pay allot more for the servers

Nowadays web development is more like an off-line business. An ordinary person cannot rank like they could in 2011 or earlier.

Honestly, there are some fund raisers online that actually offer something in return. I've came across a couple.

Yeah, but they are uncommon.

I'm thinking that will never change but, and sorry to sound comical, nothing is easy! Well, actually that's what some have been arguing about college degrees. See, some want everyone to go to college, but then, supposedly, that lowers the value of the degree (but I don't really agree with that).

My daughter has one she raising funds for the local Hospice in the Highlands of Scotland. My daughter and 4 year old granddaughter are doing the 5k run next March

I think charities are a different matter - but it might get tough to get people cause of so many scams going around!
