He could of peacefully turned himself in which might of spared his life, but he choosed to fight. Egypt's former president decided to resign after he figure out he won't be going anywhere if he continues to be leader.
I guest the only other way to deal with dictator is to ask for them to resign, or turn themselves in, or hide in exile till someone finds them to let the justice system judge them in court.

Well I heard he was taken alive and then conviently caught in crossfire. It seems like an assasanation to me. He should have been tried to give all those people he tortured a sense of closure.

He was also carrying a fancy gold plated Gun, so he could of taken out the gun, and someone saw him with a gun or know he was armed, so they shoot him in defense.

All those images of his last few moments don't sit well with me, it paints a picture of a bunch of wild animals, not human beings.
While I fully understand the crimes that the man committed were no less barbaric, a capture, trial and punishment by his country would have been the humane thing to do, the air strike may have been the catalyst to his demise but it was his fellow countrymen that killed him.
All those images of his last few moments don't sit well with me, it paints a picture of a bunch of wild animals, not human beings.

Well, I didn't give my idea on this topic at first but I must say I have read some very interesting idea's here. My opinion, a man like Gadhafi can not understand anything other than brute force. The first couple of replies mentioned him retiring, a good thought but very unlikely.
Other's mentioned the manner in which he died. Yes, he was tortured and assassinated. The only thing I can think of to respond to that is if you treat your people like animals for 42 year's you can't expect anything else when your turn come's!

I have to agree with this statement, the man had it coming whether he liked it or not, when you oppress people for over 40 years how can you expect people to treat you with kindness, the red cross are reporting they are finding mass graves all over the country. Watching the video it actually made my stomach turn, i though it was just too gross to release.
