The cord of my headsets snapped, so I guess it is time to get some new ones. I'd have to wait to get a bit of money to buy some new ones, first.

What is it with headsets..they never last. No matter what brand I seem to buy they always end up going in the bin sooner or later. Right now my headset microphone is only working but the earphones aren't picking up anything. Took it apart hoping I could solder something somewhere but nope, seems the cables are faulty now. Annoying! -_-

My headphones only pick up sound out of one side. -.- My dad taped them back together yesterday.

Yeah, well usually you can fix that by just soldering the break point. I didn't have that problem with me, I thought I did but unfortunately it was just wear and tear with the cabling :/

Do you have audio capability now in both? Where can I find this miracle tape? lol

Duct tape. lol still doesn't work out of both ears but it can pick up good audio.

I use ear headphones now. I used to use headsets as a kid, but head phones are better. One thing that bothers me is that when they used to come out with portable CD players, they always included those old fashioned things and sometimes the set was made way too big, so you almost had to swap headphones because the actual headset was so uncomfortable.

Have you thought of using a desktop USB or regular mic, and headphones? I am using a basic desktop mic and speakers for my sound recording and listening needs for a few years now on my PC.

@Hiocoie000™ - is that not annoying hearing out of one ear? That would bug the hell out of me!

@Ashley - Yeah I only use my headset (with mic) for voice chatting really, if I'm listening to music I'll have that on my speakers etc. I never liked the earphones at all, they always kept falling out...my ears aren't that big lol

My ears aren't that big either. But at this time ten years ago, you could get a CD Player with a headset, and they'd be nice and comfortable no matter which brand of CD Player you got. Now you get a new player, and the headphones may have good sound quality with them, but they make those things way too big to where they're almost uncomfortable. I know a few years ago I had a JogProof CD player (one of the best ones I'd ever had... lasted 2 years!) and they came with this big headset that, if you were small like I am, you practically had to hold the headset to your ears to keep the headphones from falling off. I finally broke down one day and got a pair of earphones. Loads more comfortable than that stupid headset the player came with.

Yeah I know, years ago the headsets were a bit naff, nowadays I always see kids with huge headsets on listening to music as they walk past...looks ridiculous IMO lol but sure, to each their own. If you're out running yes, the earphones are the best option but I personally cannot take to them at all. Perhaps, I've yet to find a set that will suit me, who knows.

I'd use that kind of fancy stuff on a laptop, or especially if it is build in the computer. Other than that, I don't really get fancy with those things. 😉

Same for me, I use the built-in Mic, on my laptop when I am video chating, I think most webcams made by Microsoft, and Logitech also come with built-in mics to record and use for voice chat.

Well, most of my friends have iPods now, and as we all know those come with earphones than the actual headset. I do see kids and teens running around with those big headsets eventually, and it disgusts me, because I can never imagine how a person can stand to WEAR those flipping things. On the JogProof CD player I had, the headset was also the ones where you could adjust the part that sits on your ears, which made the headset even more uncomfortable. It's like one wrong move and the ear pieces can go so fast in any given direction... I remember there were times when I was afraid I was going to break the stupid things because they turned around so violently. It was insane and I just cannot stand those things.

I couldn't agree more that headsets can only last for a certain amount of time, depending on their conditions when they were purchased, which shouldn't be that bad, but each headset has it differently. 😉

Not to mention depending where you live those headsets could get you mugged. Sure probably wouldn't happen where I currently live but I've taken late buses before where I definitely would not want to have visible headphones or any tech on, especially when some of the other passengers are smashed and rowdy 😛

Good suggestion. 😛 That might be a way to encourage you to get a desktop instead LOL

You got lucky. Your headset lasted for ages. 😉 You need a new one soon, though.

Your headset lasted at least a year. That's a lot longer than any of mine have ever lasted.

 Hard to imagine your headsets lasting more than a couple of years, except for that one pair you had once. 😉

Well, we don't have too many bullies around here, thank God. and as I have said, I don't use those annoying headsets anymore anyway, so I'm pretty sure I'm safe for the most part.
