Hello all, I figure this place is better than any to ask and I'd like to know what you think about this.
I got an email the other day from some sort of advertising company of some sort and they are offering "$90 a year for putting a text ad on your main page"

Here is the full email:
Hi,

Thank you for your response.

What we are offering is a fixed fee in exchange for putting our client's
small text ad on your website.

Our customer is a leading site in the online gambling and entertainment
industry, and is offering $90 a year for putting a text ad on your main
page.

We'll transfer you the first payment through PayPal for 3 months in advance,
and if after the first 3 months we see that everything is still in place,
we'll transfer you payments for 3 months in advance every 3 months until we
complete the one year deal.

Moreover, it is important for me to mention that a text ad is a small text
linked to our client's site, meaning that it is quite different from all the
traditional banner advertising which include big changes and spaces in your
home page. The publication of few words will be enough for our client.

Please let me know if you are interested, and I will create a unique text ad
which will fit your site's theme and design. If you have more websites,
please send me the URLs; I will be glad to evaluate them and send you a
proper offer for them.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely

What do you think?

Like Elochai said, you'll want to check the location. There are a couple of African countries, mostly Nigeria but also a few others, that are known for scams. I got an e-mail last November from some guy wanting my bank information, to transfer funds out of West Africa. I've got that e-mail around here somewhere.

Not sure why you need to ask to be honest.

Put the link on your page, if they pay you, great. if they don't then simply remove the link.

Common sense is wonderful, isn't it? 😛

It's a mystery why you have -1 rep... ~rolleyes~
I as well as most people know a lot of this stuff is scams, especially when they come in random emails... which is why I am asking...

If it checks out to a country that isn't Nigeria, do it. It looks like a good deal.
Thanks, will be sure to do that before I go ahead with anything -🙂-

You'll be glad to hear that he was banned yesterday ~wink~

As for your Ad siuation, personally i wouldn't bother. I think it's better to stick with well established advertising publisher programmes such as Adsense / Adbrite rather than link up with a random Email. That's just my opinion though ~smile~

Mr. Bond I think it is the best if you follow Murder he Wrote's advice. Because you can never know if it is a scam. Also if your going to pay to for advertising use something that have been around for a long time and you know it works.

Also I I were you I would use:
Google Advertising Programs
OR
Ad Brite

rather than link up with a random Email.
