Have you ever been banned?

Once when it was the frist time I went to that forum an IP ban was put in place. How much I hate it when IP keep changing.
 
HAHA! I have a wonderful story to this.

I a site reviewer for two forums, and this one girl wanted a review for her Brand New Forum she made that very same day. Well, she also wanted a registration package so, i joined, then i reviewed it.

Ok, I'll post my review, as well, so you can see what happened.

And that's my review systme i created for the 2 forums i review on ...

1. Based on the skin colors 10/10 points
2. Banner surrounding your forum's theme 5/5 points
3. Organizing of Boards and Sub-Board Topics 10/10 points
4. The appeal your Forum has on "Guests" to your forum 5/5 points
5. Our overall opinion on the Forum as a whole 10/10 points

I'm always skeetchy about reviewing a brand new forum in the works. So what i say, I'm hoping will be helpful, in getting your forum started better for you and your community, Sakura. I'm part of it as well


1. Based on the skin colors 7 / 10

The colors are very easy on the eyes. But they just don't stand out, and differ from many default forum skins I've seen around. I do like the grey/yellow Board Images at front for new and old posted Boards. Aside from that. it's a very nice skin, just seems alittle too basic in my opinion.

2. Banner surrounding your forum's theme 2 / 5

Not gonna lie, when i first saw this banner put up, i loved it. but later on, i wondered what Bubbles represented for your forum as a whole, it's theme in general. Then i noticed the wasted space on almost all the right side of your banner. It would've had looked better idf the bubble effects floated all across the banner to the right, as well. Your banner can be simple, but it should show your members, especially guests, what to expect and what they're getting at from your forum at first glance

3. Organizing of Boards and Sub-Board Topics 3 / 10

And , again, i don't like reviewing really new sites. Cause of certain categories we grade on. but, here goes ...

Sonce being a member of your forum, i've been confused on what is the forum's theme. You call it Talk Anything. Yet, so far, all i see are really simplified categories (general Discussion, which doesn't have topics for General Discussion, they're all just copy and paste news material,,, noone's gonna had much discussion to news material) I'm really confused on why you made an entire Board on "post your desktop" ... that should just be a topic; placed in the computer Discussion Board you already have.

If the forum is Talk anything, which there are many based on this theme, shouldn't there be more to talk about, besides music, computers, and anime? And, i love megaman games, but don't understand how the blue bomber gets his own Board, either?

You need a huge Entertainment Category. with Boards like, (movies, tv) (videogames) (music) etc .... and place those Board titles, withing these Boards as topics, not stand alone Boards.

4. The appeal your Forum has on "Guests" to your forum 2 / 5

Guests aren't going to stay very long once they arrive. If they're fluent in forums, they already know these Boards and Discussion already exist on ther forums, as well as forums with many, many more discussions to get involved with. The skin is easy and attractive. But the limited topics, semi-slow activity, is what Guests are gonna take notice in first when joining. I'm a member Sakura, and want to get more involved, but there's not much to get involved with for my tastes. You need to get some Boards and topics ion a broader variety. I'm sure what you have up is something you like, but you have to consider what everyone else is going to like as well.

5. Our overall opinion on the Forum as a whole 5 / 10

Sakura, you've become a good friend of mine these past few days, but i have to do these reviews with honesty. A 5 was being generous. I want your forum to to good and help you in any way. You just have to get broader, and more discussible topics out there. Sure you can advertise and get guests to come check it out, but the hard part is getting their interests and keeping them to stay once they arrive

Sakura, you're a great admin, i know you have what it takes to get this forum going. I hope i could've shed a little light on what you need to get your forum more appealing, not just for established members, but guests as well to your forum. Please don't be upset. I just have to be strict and as fair as i possibly can.

she's some snobby 17 year old girl who can't stand when she's not in the spotlight, guess my honesty hurt her feelings too bad,
 
For advertising a forum but there was nothing in the rules about it 🙁.
It was only a temporary ban tho.
 
Just got banned again today from GameCheetah. I was "Advertising" supposedly.
 
I know Sakura, she was at forum advertiser when i was running it for a while (before gamerout sold it to Travis)

In the end i had to demote her, she just causes alot of problems on there, making people mod, taking them off, banning peple for no reason.


I have been banned from a few sites in the past (urban music sites, just for promoting apparently and because the admins didn't like me)
 
yeah i was banned after months of hard work being an uploader and a moderator i got banned for supposedly advertising my other forum even though another user posted it and a different ip he still suspected me as in charge of the user so i got banned and that was that

i was so pissed off ,
 
Nah, I've never been banned, I'm a little angel. Now where's that angel emoticon... Heh.

It sounds like a lot of you guys got banned for stupid reasons, though. There's so many corrupt staff members out there now. 🙁 It's really sad, especially when the admins don't want to do anything about it and just let innocent members get banned.
 
is it bad to ban a moderator.. just because you don't agree with their morals/find them annoying ;(
 
I was banned from 1 forum for advertising when I shouldn't have, another forum I started but for some reason the other 2 admins banned me and started telling other forums lies about me reporting peoples links and stuff which I'd never do which led to me getting banned from a further 2 forums. None of these forums have any evidence that I reported there links and won't believe me when I tell them I didn't do it 🙁 for this reason I don't think I'll add any admins to any other site I open.

actually, it's best to demote them ... THEN, if they're really of bad character, they'll throw a hissy fit and make a public spectacle on the forum of the whole thing ...

then ban them for a good reason all members can see and understand why 😀

see if they take the bait 😉
 
Nah, but I'm usually that person that is one wrong word away from being banned... Lol. I like living on the edge.
 
yes i was banned from a forum once but it actually had nothing to do with the forum itself. -roll- xxx
 
The current forum i'm most active on hasn't got the best admin but luckily it's a big forum and the many moderators make up for it...he does work at the site but doesn't interact outside of site business....

I'm not one of the only members who doesn't particularly care for him but i'm the only one who will criticize him openly and if he's rude to me i'm not going to stop sucking up...

He doesn't know me well enough on the forum to hate me yet...i don't plan on getting banned, but i'm an anarchist who hates his authority...
