I have, and it's a pain. You have to change the name, the domain, and while you change the domain you have to change the settings and good gosh the list goes on. It's a gigantic pain and I won't be doing it again. 😛
I have never changed my forum name although I did once as we had a copyright issue. Had to change it from Discussion Lounge to Discussion Hub. Even got paid to change it so that we a plus I guess 😀
We have never ever altered my own community name though Used to do when even as we got some sort of copyright laws issue. Needed to change it from Conversation Lay to help Conversation Center. Also acquired paid to switch this in order that we all a plus I guess.
I have not changed the name of my forum, I have of websites, but I can see a reason to change the name is to be different than others. Have a unique name If a competitor comes in with a similar name to the one you have had for a while I would want to rename my forum to a unique name.
I have several times for my site. I hated its name....I still hate the name BUT it appears that I cant think of anything else so it shall stay as it is.
it is really not as hard as people here try to make it. By the domain, set the name servers and make sure your software points to the new domain. Simple
I had a RuneScape fan site that went through a couple of name changes. It improved he site each time I think. 🙂 If a name isn't working, I don't think an admin should let that hold them back.
