So I am wondering why people don't like having partners when starting and running a forum? Do we have anyone here that wouldn't mind having 1 or 2 partners?
I think forum owners are interested in having partners, it will ease their work. However, the truth is people are not interested in becoming partners in any forum because it does not pay.
Some people like @Katrina are just here for the ride and enjoy being on a forum.
I'd say that most though want something out of it and a lot of the time things fall apart.
What about starting a new forum up? If you and someone else has about the same idea, would you try to work it out so you both can own the site?I'm weary of having a partner, just because I had a bad experience in the past. I promoted the wrong person to admin once on one of my old Proboards forums. They ended up deleting my theme and installing a bunch of random ones that didn't even fit the niche of my forum. Since then, I wait to hire staff and most of the time I usually only promote one person to moderator.
Maybe I would do this if I found the right person. I suppose it wouldn't hurt if there was another person who had the same passion, I did have a technical admin once on my old Mighty No. 9 Forum. He took care of installing plugins, themes, etc while I focused on content. (This was when I was still new to owning a forum.)What about starting a new forum up? Were they owners? Like was it 50/50?I've had co-admins before but I've always been the sole owner of my sites.
No I owned and paid for everything but had a co-admin to help run the forum. Were they owners? Like was it 50/50?
Would you like the cost to be 50% each? If you had 2 or more in the partnership and 1 of them had to exit, how would you handle that?Maybe I would do this if I found the right person. Yeah, I am talking ownership. Co-admins are nice to help out is some cases. No I owned and paid for everything but had a co-admin to help run the forum.

Definitely, it's best to split up the cost. As for having more people it would make things complicated, especially in the case if someone bailed out. At that point I would discuss it with the other staff and see if we should look for another partner or try to do what we can on our own. After all, we'd need to be all on the same page for the project to work.Would you like the cost to be 50% each?
