Does anyone have any ideas on how to attract members to your forum? I currently have no actual members and would like some tips because nothing seems to work. 🙁

One of the many reasons that it's not going well is that your using SMF, not very widely used and also you have tons of forums that are empty. Also I have no idea what the purpose of your forum is. You should try to start to think about those ideas before trying to get new members.

I use SMF! It has its drawbacks but works well for us. I don't think forum software is as important as how good the forum itself looks.

The problem is that people want to join an already active community. I would provide one by inviting a few friends to join it and just going from there.

lolwut
A forum can be successful on any software if it has a good base, admin, content, a few other things, and luck. Saying that a forum isn't going well because of its software is rather stupid; there are a ton of very very unsuccessful forums on PhpBB/VB/MyBB and there are some successful forums on SMF (i.e. the poster above me whose forum has 1,769,527 Posts in 101,450 Topics by 10,237 users).

But that's not a fair comparison. You started off about 5 years back on ProBoards. You have a developed userbase on a converted forum, so chances of you continuing to do well is pretty high. If you started with SMF, things may have been drastically different.

There's nothing wrong with using SMF, geez. Very few people join or stick around at a forum based on software, it is the content they care about.

Speaking of which, OP, get some content on there. If you're just starting out, then some post exchanges might be a good thing, just to get some members/activity flowing.

Also, cut down on the forums on the index. It is so long that it is really difficult to process what is there and what isn't.

Your current banner is a bit small and unattractive, no offense.

Starting competitions show activity and gives people something to do once they join.
