I'm new to SEO, how can I get it at the top? It's a very specific forum (SnapbackForum.net).

Make sure to build baclinks by putting your forums link in all your signatures with the keyword you want to rank with.

SEO is much more complicated than "how can I get it to the top", It requires money, Effort, Knowledge and a lot of time to launch an effective SEO campaign. It isn't as simple as buying 20,000 backlinks from Fiverr and the jobs a good un'.

Do your research on SEO, types of off-page and on-page SEO and educate yourself on the subject. You need to get a real understanding about it before you can jump in 🙂

do the backlinks make that much of a difference that its worth buying some??? im just getting started but need a boost in google

It's never worth buying backlinks, even more so after the penguin update.

Google has now blacklisted all the link farms it knows, and is blacklisting more, PR now works more on the reputation of the page the link is coming from.

It's far better to do backlinking naturally, and by linking from and to websites in your niche that already have a high PR.

I never had any backlinks! nor are they a good way to increase your rank! Just add a forum sig! and if u have good traffic your site would be up in google ranks!

But those are backlinks, even though a lot of them are nofollow, I'm pretty sure Google looks at them.

Don't just concentrate on pagerank numbers - concentrate on getting the best content you can on your site and try to keep things moving on there.. google will notice and reward you..

If you have other high ranking sites though in the same niche, certainly create some backlinks from there though 🙂

I'll be quite frank, but most of the information I've seen so far is junk. First, understand what Google wants from a website.

This is a good start. I would then install the Google SEO plugin for MyBB, with the URL feature turned off (changing up the URLs in that plugin is costly in terms of CPU and it really isn't that beneficial). After that, just get yourself to make lots of threads (relevant ones, mind you) and hope for the best.

Just remember it isn't a long-term thing, you gotta be there for a while.

EDIT: When I said "server space", I meant server/CPU load.

I have to agree with el canadiano, you must be dedicated in bringing your website up on the Google ranks. It's not just a one time thing that you do, you must regularly put in seo work to be recognized. The "Google SEO Starter Guide" is a good start to achieving this, I've read it before and it really is useful. Also, installing the MyBB SEO plugin is a good start and step one to the whole seo biz. :great:

Just do what the above said, and really work hard because even though it is indeed specific, there are a lot of sites out there that might be just like it. For example, our FOTW winner pluvia is on the 2nd page on Google if you just type "Pluvia". I thought Cressence was an unique name until I found out there was another site called that. Googling that gave us 4th on google.
