I hear a lot of people who are online marketing staff talk about a "Call for Action" which is something like "Click this link to Learn more about Making money online" can be more effective then just posting example.com and hoping people click on it.

Is it really necessary to tell people to click a link and what he will find on the forum?

Could it sound kind of pushy if you write an overly pushy Call to Action like "You Must click on my link, or you'll miss out on all the tips on fixing a car"

If it works, why not? Be pushy.

"You MUST buy my product before this incredible offer expires!!"

"You can buy my product if you like"

Which sounds more compulsive to you? It's business

A call to action can be as simple as "Click here to join" or it can be more complex such as "Click here to register and enjoy the benefits of membership, including the ability to post, receive PMs, ...."

I'd agree that you should have a call to action, even if it is the gentle, subtle kind.

Is there a maximum length of a "Call to action" for it to be effective. I try to keep "Call to actions" statements length around 1-2 sentences.

Long as it's a lure and not an order people should respond well to it. "Click here to join the community while the special points offer still lasts!" Stuff like that.
